13 miles driven and I’m wondering how I’m going to love it….

So my car arrived out of the blue on Friday night and today I got to drive it. 2 issues so far, went to use the built in sat Nav and it didn’t know where my address is and when trying to park between two trees in the rain at night it was impossible to see a thing. How am I ever going to persuade myself to love this thing for the next 4 years
Every car has its shortcomings. The ZS EV has as well. No regen while using ACC, not being a ground up EV so makes it a bit less efficient. Indicator quite noisy and so forth.

But overall for the price point it's a banging car! Can't go wrong with it. So small issues like this, I'll take it. If one really wants to get these resolved then other brands are there which might be able to meet your needs. Having driven cars like the DS3 E-Tense, Hyundai Kona, Ioniq, Nissan Leaf and the MG ZS LR. My favourite has been the ZS with a very very close second Kona. Infact I would have considered the kona if it was cheaper. That's probably the main reason that made me choose the ZS over it.
You can turn indicator volume down in settings under alert volume or the notification volume control.

I've done all of that but it's still quite noisy compared to every other car I've had or driven. Then again as I said, it's not a deal breaker. It's just one of those annoying niggles that you come to terms with. Having driven close to 6k on this car I'm immune to everything I mentioned above. This is more for information for any new owners coming the the ZS EV.
I have done it ☝️

I’m open to loving it but I will admit I didn’t ask for it, didn’t want it, but as the delivery of it was so shambolic it turned up after 13 months of waiting an hour after my husband just had delivery of a car to tied him over until this was meant to be ready in another years time! Couldn’t even begin to make it up!
True enough in that most modern cars are far too complicated for most women.

In a word, no.

Slightly simplified:

Eco, Normal & Sport are the “go”

Kers 1, 2 & 3 are the “stop”

Eco gives you slightly less “go” (and also restricts the energy used in the heater & a/c), possibly useful on longer trips when you just just that tiny bit more range or have a heavy right foot and want to avoid going too fast too quick.

Normal is…. Normal. Enough poke to go quickly when you want to but not so much to hammer the range.

Sport is f’n quick and not really needed unless you’re feeing spicy or want to embarrass some chav in an Audi at traffic lights. Its not dangerous, but with enough shove you can set off the traction control so be careful.
Got it, thanks!

What to say I’m a woman?!

No need to be misogynistic... Not sure as well if OP indicated their sex or gender anyway...
Absolutely spot on! I may have said I didn’t choose the car, it was meant to be husbands, but that doesn’t define my sex!

A few of the things people raise aren't so much problems as lack of research. The car isn't perfect - some have had a nightmare with it - but overall it's good bang for price at the time. I do like that it's quite compact and easy to chuck about in the city...been driving mine like I stole it :ROFLMAO:

MG could do a better job of making sure a basic PDI standards are met, updates done ect...mine didn't even have the tyres at the correct pressure. The lack of rear interior light will continue to bug me, but I knew that before buying so would it to the list of improvements I'd like to see on the Mk3.
And I didn’t do any research whatsoever as this car wasn’t meant for to be mine.

Nothing like being positive!
Am loving it now I know a bit more about it but it’s never going to compare, build wise, with German cars….

No, it won’t.

This has been discussed at length here & the general consensus seems to be “not perfect but great bang for one’s buck”.

Given anything EV & German is at least another £10-15k, there’s always going to be differences.

I don't understand why people think they get 'good' or 'quality' just because its made by a German company. Why would you pay an extra 15,000 euro for a VW ID3? It's made in China with Chinese components, Chinese batteries by Chinese workers. The car has a bland exterior/interior and is no better or worse than my MG.

Who built it isn't necessarily relevant to the quality of the end product but who designed it is.

A bit different to just after WW2 when "Jerry built" was a derogatory term. :sneaky:

Saic can do German in fact they make Volkswagens including id3 id4 in one of their factory's and Audi

I looked at the id3, and I have to say that the interior put me off straight away. A friend had bought the MG5, and was very happy with it, so I looked online to see what other EV’s were available from MG. The ZS suits me perfectly.
I don’t have any major complaints - the infotainment sometimes has a mind of its own, but I can live with that.

No, not tongue in cheek, just incredibly dark and camera was all blurry from rain, useless! Sounds like I’m going to find a lot more of issues once I’ve driven it a bit more…..wish me luck!
Good luck. I love my car. Yes it has a few issues but miles better than previous cars. All cameras get rain on them. I drive an ambulance and that is just the same.

Check the dead reckoning is switched off for the satnav. It does funny things with it on.

Our previious car was a BMW 1 Series and this car is up there…..far better driving experience and throughly enjoying the car… no regrets whatsoever although I would say interior isn’t to the same quality but isn’t bad bad….if you know what I mean.

The only headache we have is it keeps dropping the phone off and needs to be paired often. We will be taking this up with dealer as I can accept glitches with elements involving new tech but Bluetooth isn’t acceptable it’s been around for years.
