I was looking to update the navigation on my 2022 MG5 LR so I registered on NaviExtras.com , installed the Navi Toolbox and took a fingerprint of the car . When I start up the toolbox it says I need to update my head unit and downloads the files to my USB which iI do . When I plug it in the car it offers to update andit then proceeds to do so in about 10 seconds ???? and advises to return the USB to my PC . I follow this instruction and then the process repeats again ad nauseum .
One think I noticed is that the Navi Toolbox doesn't offer me a log in option as described .
I bought the car used , so is possible that the car is still registered to the previous owners . Their Navigation history was still in the unit . Should I perform a system reset and try again ?
All thoughts welcome

Although Naviextras.com offer no support for MG vehicles and MG Touch installations (officially) I think this is one situation where you might be able to persuade them that you need their help in fully setting up your account (given the previous ownership), especially if you intend to update your maps, since all their updates have to be bought! (A full map update can cost in excess of £100.)

Thanks for that I've already contacted Navi Extras and waiting for their reply . I was a little concerned about performing a factory reset as I don't know what systems it would affect . I've done it on my previous cars without a problem but I read in the Navigation System manual "please use with caution "...gave me the Heebie Jeebies ;)

Save yourself some bother and use a decent satnav app.

I didn't say this in my reply earlier but I rather agree with @Gomev !

The NaviExtras maps etc., are pretty good and the directions always clear (when using the app) but the fact that they offer no support to MG vehicles AND the fact that map updates require a not insubstantial purchase be made, there are "better", most often free alternatives.

I'm not too worried about the Nav , don't use very much . The on board Nav is slow to respond in any case . I can use Android Auto which is pretty good and pretty much up to date all the time . The main concern I have is performing a factory reset as I don't know how much effect it will have on the car . If it's like my previous 2 vehicles , it just returned to the first time set up screen and I had enter my details ,preferences etc . That's no problem but I don't know what to expect with the MG

It's been a while so I may be wrong but try doing the updates separately if you have the option. When I tried doing all the updates at once it didn't work but individually it did. Also try a different USB key and doing a full FAT32 format. I also found my cheaper unbranded USB keys had issues.

I've tried different USBs FAT32 and even tried Ex AT . All with the same result the Head Unit reports it's updated , which it obviously hasn't . My last car would take about 30 minutes to update , this takes 10 seconds . When I return the USB to the PC Navi Toolbox tells me updates are on the USB please return it to the car . Also , as far as I can see, there should be log in screen on the Toolbox which isn't there .
I'm taking the car for it's first service , if it hasn't already had it , next month ( earliest I could get ) . I can wait until then to have it sorted ...I hope ;)

I'll take note . Can you expand on the reason ?

A half decent alternative if you don't/can't use mobile data is Navmii. It's free. The maps are also free and get downloaded to your phone, which you can do via WiFi (I make sure the maps are assigned to the memory card, rather than internal memory). Coverage is via a range of maps worldwide. Downloaded India, Australia, Netherlands and France at various times for trips there.

Such as what?
There are many far better than the built in satnav,
Google Maps
Waze
Here
AmiGo
and tons more, just search on google play or the app store.

Most of these can also run offline if you don't have the data but to be honest they use virtually no data even on a long trip.

'On average, Google Maps uses around 2.19MB of data for every hour you’re on the road. For comparison, Spotify uses the same amount of data to play a three-minute song. If you have a 1GB data cap, it would take you over 457 hours of driving with Google Maps to reach your limit.'
