Quick question.
I have just had an Amber Brake Warning.
Consulting the manual, it gives a typical vague statement to speak with your dealer.
Before I do this, I wanted to ask whether anyone else has had this warning.
Thank you.

Can you be a bit more descriptive? Are you meaning the ( P ) in the driver display is yellow (amber)? If yes then that usually signifies an auto-hold fault - which usually goes away by itself - and doesn't otherwise cause any other issues.

Yes. That is exactly what I was meaning.
So have you had this self same thing?
When coming to a stop, I would usually depress the brake pedal to bring on the green P, which would activate the handbrake.
But on this occasion, I had to manually operate the electronic handbrake.
Is that what you had. And if so, was it a one off or did it happen again?

Yes this is exactly the auto-hold fault. I have had it happen once, was cleared on the next drive.

Can happen:
  • If the head unit does not start up properly
  • If the brakes are binding due to lack of lubrication (some early cars not greased at all which causes problems).
