I was looking through the settings on the driver’s display and in the settings menu, I noticed something called Overspeed Threshold. Any idea what this is for?

Page 33 of the manual suggests it sets the threshold of the over speed alarm.

Can only assume that means something that flashes up when you go a certain speed over a limit…
There is a beep as well when you reach the speed that you set.

Forgot to say, someone set it to 20, yes 20 miles/hour before I collect our mg4.
It was really annoying before I figure out how to change it.

Thanks guys. Good to know.

Wow! I’d have thought there was a fault with the car, and taken it back to the dealer if that had happened to me. Who would think that’s a good idea?!

Be perfect for me if I'm only driving locally, I think all our roads are now 20mph apart from the A4
I can see in that situation it would be useful. There are a mixture of 60/50/40 A road zones, 60 B roads (though impossible as they’re so narrow and twisty turny) and 30/20 town/village zones around me.

Does the trophy not know the speed limit if the road you are on and warn accordingly?… that would be a good use of the software if not…

the car's camera will pick up the speed limit from the road sign.
but you can set another "reminder" speed (i.e. 20 miles/hour), the car will beep and show something on dash every time when you reach the speed.
Likely it only beep once if your speed stays above the limit.

Many thanks 🙏 can’t wait to get my trophy and explore all the gadgets etc

Yes as others have commented - BUT that's an assumption that that system plays ball and actually recognizes the correct zones - Yesterday - having come from a national into a 30 - it was still showing national .. & that wasn't the first time, since its had & running all the latest updates etc.

So I take that 'notification' with a pinch of salt & pay attention to my speed limits myself ..

As the MG4 is an EV with only a single gear, cruise control works down to walking speeds. So simply set ACC to 20mph and job's a goodun. 😎

All built-up areas in Wales go to 20mph in September, except for some main through routes that the individual town councils haven't decided on yet.
Give it another year or so and i think all cities, towns and villages will be a blanket 20mph on all roads apart from main routes. Along with ULEZ style zones within 5 years

Is traffic jam assist basically the same thing but it will bring car to a stop? Presumably works on similar principles

Can you set the cruise control at 70 whilst stationary and then take your foot off the brake?
A sort of improvised launch control.

Well I spoke to my dealer who was really cagey regarding it. But did say they had not tested it out because they did not have a track day with the car. I asked if that meant if I set it to 150 the car would go to 150 before it said you were over speeding? So I might have an MG4 that can do 150mph? All I got was a grin and a statement we have not tested that feature.

The camera often picks up speed limit signs that aren't applicable - for example a 40 mph speed limit for HGVs on a 60 mph road, or a 20 mph speed limit sign that's actually relating to a side road you just passed. I find this happens so often I just turn the damn thing off. But if it worked, it would be good.
