I’ve been adding some upgrades to my MG4 and have posted some YouTube videos that may help anyone looking to add some extras. So far I’ve added mud flaps, hydraulic bonnet struts, mats, test of the vehicle to load. And now have all the kit together to upgrade the speakers and waiting for a boot liner to arrive so will post details when the jobs done. Hope they help.

This is super useful, bravo and thanks for sharing with the community!

Cheers! I’ll be installing the speakers in the next few days so will video the process too.
I’ll be updating some of my electric vehicle and battery pack projects on YouTube too, I built an ebike using Nissan Leaf battery cells so need to get on with documenting that 🙃🙃

Wow, that's a project I might be interested in trying but I'd need a guide like yours to have the confidence. Looking forward to it :) Have subscribed.

Not sure I'd need gas struts for the bonnet, but stronger struts for the boot lid I would like to have.
I like the automatic boot opener I've seen shown, but it's a bit more than I'm prepared to pay.
However, some extra assistance in opening that heavy bootlid manually would be appreciated! Has anyone managed to source any suitable struts?

The struts make it more convenient and easier in wind and bad weather especially once I have a Frunk under there. I’ve not noticed the boot hatch being heavy though, you can probably find different strength boot struts you just need the correct length

Impressed with your videos @Alansurfer - I have my mud guards ready to go on. Not a complex job, granted, but you showing the locations of screws and the plug on the front ones will make the job even easier for me and my bad back. Much appreciated!

Thanks, glad the videos are useful. It is a quick job but took me much longer as neighbours kept asking me questions about the car 🙂🙃

hydraulic bonnet struts
Alan, in your very helpful video you simply pull the flexi strap nut holder out (is that easy to do) ? - Do you then refasten the bonnet liner back on or is that not needed due to the struts ?

I've ordered some now too - So thanks for he video and link

It takes a good hard pull to get the flexi strap out, the bonnet liner fasters are replaced by the ball joint your fitting for the strut so not needed (it’s held in place by the new ball joint fitting).

The mods I would like to see are window covers for the inside perhaps with sola panels and if someone tries camp mode like people do with teslas. The MG4 seems a good car for camp mode

@Alansurfer - I just installed the Bonnet Struts as per your video. Nice easy install made stress free by your video instructions, thanks again. I have a question though. My car is missing the inlay trim shown on your car. Is this simply the legendary MG quality control that we all know and love where they just "forget" parts of the car? Does anyone else have the black inlay trim under the bonnet missing? My car is going to dealer in two weeks, shall I ask them to get one, am I really missing anything without it?

Fitting the insert may be tricky now that the struts are fitted ... looking at the video the insert is (partly) held in place with clips that fit where the ball joints are now fitted. So the struts would need to come off to allow the insert to be fitted ... which means the ball joint nuts may escape.

Glad the video was helpful. The bonnet sound deadening isn’t really necessary with electric vehicles, it will help to dampen some vibration but probably not noticeable in the cabin, I was surprised that it was there on mine. The issues people are having seem to be down to quality control from the dealerships not noticing items missing etc pre handover.
