MG ZS EV
Battery capacity - in a charge from 0 miles to fully charged the battery only consumes a maximum of 32kw.hrs. It should consume close to its rated capacity of 44.5kw.hrs. The results are the same for the MG supplied charger and my own 7kw charger. Add to this the losses in the charging system and the results are worse - charging systems are often between 90% and 80% efficient. I have record of this fault dating back to when we purchased the car and after software repairs problem prevails.
Dealer does understand issue because there is no fault code. MG have told dealer not to do anything.

Poor service and poor product.

Almost agree with you. Euro brands are poor as well.
At home we have 1 Chinese brand and 2 USA brand EVs. Couldn’t be more different in every way.

Sounds like you could have the bad BMS update and the battery is way out of balance.

Yeah this sounds like the bad BMS firmware. Guessing you've got a MK1, which was originally an ICE car, that was then changed to be a EV.

As is the Gen 2 facelift ZS EV ?.
There is a good number of both PHEV'S & EV's that have been derived from there full fossil counter parts.
EV that are designed from the ground up, certainly have there advantages as you would naturally expect of course.

Seems this forum know more about the MG than MG or the dealers. Poorly validated software.
Without this forum and the people / members who help support it.
A lot of new owners would truly struggle with issues / problems and common software glitches that can present themselves on these models,
SOME ( not all ) dealers are unfortunately unable / willing to provide the help / assistance to these new customers to the brand.
Satisfied customers are returning customers and vice versa !.
“Sorry ( He / she ) is not at ( his / her ) desk right now, leave your name / number and will we call you back ASAP”.
How many have received this message and received a call back ?.
As I thought, not many.
We collected our first brand new ZS EV very early in Jan 2020.
On that collection day, I was informed that I would be receiving a follow up phone call in a few days time, just to check if everything was still okay and we were happy with the car.
I am still awaiting that follow up call in May 2023 TBH.

Yeh. I call the dealership, their local number, and get a call centre. Get put through after several options. Ring, ring, ring - voicemail!

Believe me, this is not just limited to MG !.
Yesterday, I gave my son in law a lift, to collect his new ( second hand ) car from a BMW dealership.
NOT a cheap car by any stretch of the imagination !.
He was trying to contact him last week about set up a collection time etc.
Every time he rang the dealership, the sales advisors phone would go to answering machine or be transferred to the switch board.
He was told that the sales person would call him back, of course he did not !.
This continued for two days and was told he was with a customer every time.
Until my son in law reminded them the HE was a customer and asked to speak to the sales manager.
Strangely enough, he had his call returned 10 minutes later.
When we arrived to collect the car, there was four sales people sitting behind desks, staring into computer screens.
As I approached the sales persons desk, I reached over his desk and picked up his phone.
He looked at me strange ?.
I told him :- “I was just checking if it was still working okay, because you never pick it up”.

You need to be clearer about what you are saying here.

Are you saying you know your charger has supplied a total amount of 44.5kwh and your battery has only has 32kwh of energy in it so total charging losses are 12.5kwh?

I'd be interested to see how you are calculated what the car has actually received to get to that number.

I don't think the MG is much different to other cars of its type on DC rapid charging losses.

Brilliant.

Brilliant.
At MG dealer I’m greeted in the car park by a chap who asks me wha I’m here for. He then personally walks me to the required desk. Lovely. But most people can read and navigate a dealership.
Contrast with Brand T. App driven booking, OTA diagnostics, ah yes your parking sensor is kaput, mobile service will be with you on ….
Alternatively, service booked, drive into geofenced service centre. Car enters service mode. Use app to open safe box, take loaner key and drive away. 24/7 access. Don’t need to leave your own key.
I know which one I’d rather pay for.

I think there is a lot of difference between Tesla and MG.

It's like comparing a Dacia with a BMW.

You aren't going to get Tesla levels of service with MG.

But then again the monthly payments on an MG are less than half the cost.

You pay the money and take your choice.

Maybe it should have been "andyteslam3"?

Bad BMS? Assume the same for all. I’m sure the firmware wasn’t just created for me.

MK 2 - not based on MK 1 experience.

Doesn’t excuse PP customer service and ignorance of problems.

Ps you assume M3.

You still haven’t explained your original question properly…

“Are you saying you know your charger has supplied a total amount of 44.5kwh and your battery has only has 32kwh of energy in it so total charging losses are 12.5kwh?

Charger dispatches 32kwh to charge the car from 0 to 100%. Charger measures what it supplies and the energy is also measured on my house meter.
I expect a 44.5kwh battery to take 44.5kwh (less a small amount for usable capacity).
32kwh measured at the charger * charging efficiency at the car of say 90% = 27kwh into the battery.
