New iSmart App? Better or worse?

I had an interesting experience yesterday when wanted to find which local car park my wife had parked our '23 plate EV LR in. I clicked iSmart on and did 'Find my Car', and it told me it was parked in a street in Brussels. Which was strange as we live in Kent where we were shopping. I then pressed the 'Horn and Flash Lights' just for the heck of it :) and it Confirmed this instruction had been sent and worked.
The app has always worked fine before this - and once I flicked it Off then On again, and there was my car in the local car park.
Weird or what ??????

My theory is the MG IP address range is registered in Brussels, so if there is no GPS data available from the car, the location algorithm uses the IP address. I often get web sites placing me in London because they have used that method and my public IP is registered there.

Apparently I've also been located in Paris 🤷‍♂️

'Narrator : You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop,'.... a rapid charger!

It doesn't - once it's at 100% the car won't allow a restart of the charge. (At least mine doesn't).
I mentioned in another thread that mine seems to work when plugged in not charging. Last time I tried it the battery was at 100% and it worked perfectly. Zappi v2. As stated then, I saw on the myenergi app that the Zappi sent power to the car for literally a second or 2, which must’ve been enough to wake it and allow the HVAC.

If I remember, I’ll test it again just to be sure it wasn’t a lucky one off…

I would be happy if the App just worked first time every time my like MG5 trophy EV does, instead of saying try again later 50% of the time

Well, if they do, can they add controls for the heated seats and steering wheel for the Trophy? 😊
Those controls are in the current app.
Once you activate the AC with your PIN, a HVAC button appears in the upper right of the main screen.
In there, you can set your desired cabin temperature & activate the heated seats.

Hmmmm, according to the iDumb app, my car is at 80% and charging.

That's fascinating - I didn't know that MG had developed wireless charging - my car is not actually plugged in and is actually at 68% charge!

Oh, and apparently my car is 5 houses away - that's generous of my neighbour to charge my car from their non-existent charger isn't it?

I find my app often shows outdated info and I have to pull down on the screen 2 or 3 times to refresh and it will update

Refresh the screen.

I really don't care what iSmart looks like. I just want it to work. It mostly does, with the occasional glitch.

But it really, really annoys me that my wife's phone can't be signed in at the same time as mine. It ought to be basic functionality, that we can both use the app - and not by sharing a password, either.

The only time I tried that, just to see how it worked, it informed me that my car was in next-door's drive.

I actually needed Find My Car, on my first full day with the car.

We went to a kids' party at a soft play place. No room to park, so I took my daughter in, while my wife went off to park. A bit later, daughter had an "accident" and I was sent to drive home for a change of clothes. Left the building. Realised I had no idea where she'd parked. Wandered around a bit, then remembered I had the app. I was amazed that it worked.

Pointless refreshing the screen, it's shown this state of affairs for mire than a week. The last time the car was actually charged was a 2 weeks ago.
To be honest, this app has been about as useful as a chocolate fireguard ever since I've had the car. It worked perfectly for a couple of weeks when I first installed it, last year. It then stopped working and despite many re-installations has not worked reliably since.
Unfortunately, it seems no one employed by MG has any idea how to program apps or vehicle software.

Your neighbour's bought a V2L adapter.

The neighbour on the other side has a roof covered in solar panels and a big Tesla.

The app more or less works OK for me. The "find my car" thing was a bit of a joke, the car was parked about a metre from the boundary line between my house and the neighbouring house where the app reported it was. If it wakes up with outdated information it usually refreshes itself and if it doesn't I can refresh it.

The main issue is that the internal temperature is reported incorrectly in a very weird pattern - much too high the first time you scan it, then going down sequentially with repeated scans until after about 20 minutes it looks vaguely plausible, excluding the odd reading of 87C just to confuse me.

And that if I really want to lock or unlock the car remotely, it never works. It only works if I'm "just testing".

The other thing I got today was a message at the bottom of the sign in page in the app which I have not seen before, screen shot here, message right at the bottom.

Not of much help why do they not list the number.
Anyhow I’m up and running again at the moment this might all be a coincidence but very annoying really
