Would you buy an MG 4 again?

Luckily for me I have a 2023 Trophy and touch wood - not experiencing any deal-killer issues. No oil leaks or rattles. If they literally just implemented a "save preferences" button to the infotainment unit I'd have no gripes at all. LKA has tried to send me into a hedge a couple of times where there is standing water in a long rut in a country road but other than that it has been plain sailing. I do several long journeys per month and I'm most impressed that, when the sun is out, I'm getting the full quoted range.

About the USB stick - I'm almost certain it has some dealer cryptographic key hardcoded into it that puts the car in a different mode when inserted. Or, that's what the dealer is expecting/has been told.

Good to hear.... however have you inspected the under tray of your car ?

Yes definitely I love it ,the red colour is amazing the acceleration is fantastic I have had no issues mechanically boot size suits me fine and the range is far more thanI need.I have owned for 6months now but have owned an ev for 3years previously. The only problem is if I go on a long run thre proxy infrastructures if the government or whoever it is installed chargers as Tesla have there would be no issuebut most of my mileage is just local

I glanced at mine in the forecourt when I took delivery and didn't see anything, but I was stiff having wrenched my back slightly out riding, and didn't get down on my knees and right under the car. Maybe I should?

What annoys me with the SE is that there are buttons that don't do anything. If the functionality isn't there, all right, but don't give us buttons with no function, that's just naff.

Single press enables voice commands in the car (e.g. Call XYZ)
Long press (when AA/CP is working) enables voice commands via AA/CP

:)

I didn't know that. Thanks.

I'm hampered at the moment in that I can't persuade my car to import my contacts from my phone. So I'm really limited to taking incoming calls. I think I need to invest in a better phone.

I definitely would buy again, it's been a great car (not perfect) though I feel for you getting a dud. I also have a diesel SUV for towing a large caravan and the future seems uncertain there.

I haven't and now I'm scared to!!

I have done 3000 miles so far. What am I looking out for?
This....

Two weeks so far. Finance are saying MG are contesting all rejections. They have my car and keys so I might just take the private plate off and get the new v5 then get them to sign for it. I still ha e the courtesy car so they will have to come collect that.
Mine has been 2 months so far but had to wait 6 weeks for an engineers report which was sent 2 weeks ago. Finance are waiting for dealership to contact them. Dealer contact me asking to take the car in for repair again I said no it’s in for rejection speak with finance firm also said I am involving the FCA in the rejection claim.engineer report has stated the car has failed again for oil leak so that is a positive

To answer the main question… yes absolutely I would!

I absolutely love my Trophy and ticks every box for me.
Has it tried to kill me with LKA and emergency braking? Yep, more than once but I find it more comical now than anything and I have made sure I indicate every time I cross a white line and this seems to have eliminated 85% of false issues.

I have been blessed (so far) with no issue like many and I am sure they would have changed my answer if I had suffered with them

I'd buy again but only if they allow LKA to be turned off, sort out the DAB radio loss of favourites off the display when in a poor signal area and lower the sensitivity of the Auto lights.
I don't mind driving with headlights on when it's dull but it's how quick they come on when you go into shade or under a bridge.

Legally they aren't allowed to let the LKA be turned off completely. As regards the headlights, there's a quick and easy fix for that - simply remove the cover on the light sensor and they behave perfectly.

You won't get any new car, or any car that has had an update to the relevant software system, to let you turn the LKA off permanently. If the lights are bothering you so much, just do the simple fix.

I wonder who on here would ‘actually’ buy again.
Not theoretically, actually.
I’ve heard of people who replace their existing car with a new one of the same, but surely they’re few and far between.
Literally going from one MG4 to another one….?
How dull…. (applies to any car)

It all depends on what is on offer I used to own a Corsa se and exchanged it for the Corsa Griffin it was a good price and the amount of spec in it far outstripped the se.

So far as the MG4 the spec is very similar with the addition of the camera and wireless charging for the phone and the fact that it is an EV and I have an home charger installed so with the right off peak tariff it should be cheaper to run.

So far as changing this one when the time comes it will be the same comparing what specs are on offer at what price along with looking at the reviews.

Unless you’re looking to change ‘this week’ there’s going to be a plethora of new and exciting EVs coming into the market, to the point it would be baffling to go for the same again.
Maybe if you’re somewhere remote where the only dealer is brand X, I get that.
It’s the only reason a suzuki dealer near me survives, it sure as hell isn’t because suzuki make good cars….
