Comfort Pack 2 Update MG ZS EV

My dealership has informed me that they have not yet received the update and will let me know when they do. Is this likely or are they fobbing me off for some reason, any ideas
They are probably trying to figure out how much they can sting you for.
The car is logged onto MG China's computer and downloaded directly from there. They don't receive anything.
Name & shame, but don't put yourself out on a limb.

Thanks for this, I emailed the sales rep who was passing it onto the service manager so I will give benefit of the doubt for now. Will speak direct to servicing after reading all this thread so I'm up to speed.

WooHoo, I've booked my car in for the Software Upgrade on Thursday 16th.

It's costing me £87 but to be honest and sorry for breaking ranks here, I'll gladly pay it.
With lockdown easing here in Scotland my wife has been a passenger in the car quite often this last week or so, and she says SHE can't stand the BOINGS! I hadn't even considered it from a passenger p.o.v! But I do find myself having to explain what it's for and that I've switched it off.

It's a shame that the update didn't allow change your driver settings being reset to default at each start up. Or does it?

Guys don't rub it in too much for those of us still waiting for the update. Paid or unpaid, it sounds the car is significantly improved with the C2U.
Excellently named by own Chinese manufacturer.
I am patiently waiting for the "comfort". The approach is one of pay and protest or quickly grab if free but whatever the case enjoy the COMFORT .

We need to keep in mind that we are dealing with a business that literally time is money and they do so much for free that we don't see. so paying for an upgrade to a revised software that isn't a fix is just a change to the software that mg have graciously provided after listening to there customers preference's, isn't the end of the world nor any reason for anyone to ruin there warranty by servicing outside of dealer network.

Well said, but one should be very selective about which dealer one goes to. Some dealerships are dealing with us customers in a very bad manner. Some members have already made 200 to 300 mile round trips to go to the best available and it is a shame that is what one should do just for a simple update.
Wish there was a way to name and shame the worst dealerships.

Yes its a shame that the customer service experience at some dealers isn't the best, I think if you can understand your dealers situation you may be able to empathise a little. for example my dealership made me wait 3 weeks for the upgrade, 3 weeks. but then the dealer explained that due to the situation they are under extreme stress trying to keep people on the road and safe, I felt that my minor inconvenience was petty and id hate to be stranded without my car because my dealer had to pander to a unnecessary demands for something non-urgent that I was asking for. so I offered to put my booking off longer, the service advisor said it was ok that they would be able to fit me in, in that time scale. I know that some have lied about there situation and not handled it well but I can see that there only trying to manage the expectation of there (me) self-centred customers in a very difficult circumstances. I have been fortunate that my dealer has handled it well but if everyone can consider this situation that would probably help everyone.

jriley121 - Not yet nut I have my car booked into Frasers in Falkirk on the 16th. So far, just talking to them, they have been very switched on. They even asked my for the car for a longer period than the two hours as they want to install some MG approved updates that I didn't know about, and these are free of charge.

As I'm travelling down from Inverness for the work to be done, it is obviously better that they get it done in a single visit, and they seem well prepared for that.

I'll keep you posted.

I think you will find that the alarm can only sound for 20 seconds - it just sounds longer at night! and of course, if what set it off recurs, it starts all over again.

Hi All,

Good news and bad news. I just had a lengthy conversation with my MG dealer and good news, there is a software update now available in the UK that deals with temperature reading and various other bong issues and a faster boot up.

Bad news is that although the software update itself is free (I suppose) the installation of it, isn’t. My dealer will “if I decide to accept the mission” (software update)) charge me their hourly rate for the technician who will carry out the update. Unfortunately, he is not 100% sure how long is needed but whatever time it takes will be charged accordingly.

Now here is the bad bit, once the software update is completed there is NO RETURN to the previous software installation and if anything goes wrong with the car i.e. something does not work when it did under the old software then the fix is again at the owners cost.

I build my own computers and others probably do as well and we all know how things can go wrong after a software update, so one must consider the risk before doing this. He quoted an example to me where they carried out a BMS software update on a NEW MG ZS EV and after the update the car would not start.

So, in summary if the bongs and suchlike are unbearable and you need a faster boot up and the outside temperature and are willing to take the risk there is a software update available (think it’s called Comfort Pack 2).

Regards

Frank

I have just booked my car in for the comfort pack 2 update to silence the "bongs".
This however is at a cost.
Since one of the improvements is to stop the horn sounding when a passenger leaves, this should be done at no cost.
It is illegal to sound your horn when stationary and between the hours of 11.30pm and 7.00.
It is also forbidden on hospital and certain other premises/zones.
I contend that this should be done as a recall in order to make the car road legal at no charge to the owner. Any thoughts?

Wrong you are not allowed to use your horn in a stationary vehicle full stop between those hours. Not sure about the alarm.
You are not supposed to sound your horn from a stationary vehicle at any time. or between 11.30pm and 7.00 or outside some hospitals.

Let’s be honest if it was illegal it wouldn’t have made it past BTS. And the reason it’s not illegal is because the noise is safety related, as it is to warn you the key is still in the car when someone leaves.

I'm afraid I too think this argument fails. Yes, It is illegal for you to sound the horn. But the car is sending an alarm to get your attention. Vast numbers of cars that use the horn for alarm purposes (possibly a majority?) would also be illegal if this was the case.

This issue is causing untold damage to some dealers. I had my car done yesterday at my local dealer and they charged me £90. They are doing it for those who purchased from them free of charge, but wouldn't make any concessions to me as a service customer. I politely paid, but this attitude (even a 50% reduction would have been acceptable) has removed any loyalty I have to them and possibly cost future MG car purchases, which otherwise would have been through them for sure.
