Tow bar mystery...

I emailed my dealer, as they have been very good and supportive.
This was their reply to the two bar question:-
"Sorry to be blunt but a Towbar is a 100% no and will void warranty"
So not worth touching for my, I'll have to use my dirty diesel van if need use if a tow bar ?

I have an email from my dealer giving me the prices for fitting and confirming that the fitting of a tow bar for bike rack purposes only will NOT affect the warranty....

As long as you have it writing, you should be OK.....I'd like one too, but I will let things clarify for a while first.

Sounds a bit like a "get out" to me, its not surprising if they conclude its not worth the potential hassle.

If someone goes against the manufacturers advice, I guess there could be all sorts of liability issues.!

The dealership is willing to sell to me no problem, issue is the exorbitant cost... the fact that the manufacturer of the bars has no stock and no idea of when they will have is insane. And then to have it inferred to me that the chances are MG have bought up all if the stock is also insane.. ridiculous scenario.

Its a strange one.....There are numerous tow bar manufacturers in the UK....at least there used to be, Whitter, Dixon Bate, etc. At one time I worked at a caravan / garage where we fitted loads...in the 1970's

There are numerous specialist tow bar fitters, Indispension etc. and even mobile ones....

I suspect the way around it to buy one for ICE car, don't even mention EV and fit it yourself, but I'll leave it to others to find out.:cautious:

You don't to invalidate the warranty and any rear impact to damage the battery in the boot. My guess is that if the battery is damaged, the car is a write off.

Found the above on EBay at £240.
Don’t know if it will fit ZS EV but perhaps worth contacting supplier .
