The headlights on our new mg5 lr were crap to say the least. Replaced them with Osram nightbreakers. When checking them against the garage door I discovered they weren't aligned properly, sorted them out and now they are pretty good. My point is I'm not convinced they left China set up right or checked in the pdi so if you're struggling have them checked

That might explain things. I've been happily driving along at night wondering what the problem is as I can see fine. I have a feeling my dealer keeps an eye on this forum though so they probably do check that in the PDI.

The only annoyance with the headlights is that it seems that if I try to do a quick flash (or double flash) when the lights are on, it just rams the main beams on for a second or so instead of just flashing... but that only seems to be over a certain speed. It's enough to turn a friendly gesture of flashing someone into my lane into an aggressive blasting of the headlights as though I'm accusing them of pulling out in front of me.
When I try it parked, it flashes as I would expect.

Good job there's a full screen display that tells me the main beams are on though. I'd never have noticed from the world around me lighting up...

So you have noticed this extended flash of the high beam too. I thought I was alone and it was probably me! Is this a problem that I should return to the dealer to sort or just one of those things we just have to live with. I must say I have never experienced this on any other car. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I thought I was just being inept - but flashing main beam does seem to get stuck on rather than flashing!

Sounds like the stalk is bouncing forward as you let it go, try a controlled release (slow) rather than just letting it snap back on its own.

Nah - done it slowly and carefully. I thought of that and tried it carefully. It's like it has a minimum time for a 'flash' once you're moving.

Hi all
I had my mg5 back to the supplying dealer because my head lights weren’t aligned
They sorted it out and said they were set up to mot standard now
Both are now level and both aiming higher than they were before I took it in
Cheers
Ian
😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The drivers side was shining to the right and had no definition and both of them on main beam didn't really do much better. Much crisper now

I mentioned this to my dealer and asked them to check the aim before I pick up the car tomorrow. He said that headlights should be aligned by the dealer as part of their pre-delivery inspection process, and pointed the finger at other dealers for not doing their job right!

Hi
Yes I thought it should have been done at the pre delivery inspection
When I went to pick it up it had the wrong number plates on too
But all’s good now and enjoying it
Just got it in time before petrol shortage and petrol price rise
Hope you enjoy your MG5 as much as I do
O ask your dealer to check on the kers3 brake light up date
Cheers

Yep, done that too. He said it only applies to a certain range of chassis numbers and the latest batch have the fix pre-applied 😊

I was told the same.

Picking mine up Saturday, he's advised me the KERS update will be done also. Looking forward to the drive back from Kent to Essex.
