Today I have driven 8 miles, never going above 40 and I am averaging 3.0.

I didn't think I was particularly heavy footed and I have been in Eco.

What am I doing wrong? :) Help me seasoned EV owners, it's only my 5th day!!

Ignore it and just watch your battery percentage v distance. I find the Mpkwh reading to fluctuate, read differently on different days and generally to be a waste of time.
Driving the SR MG5 I get about 215 miles to a charge and that doesn't change much even when the mpkwh does.

I had a petrol converted to LPG car like that. I got 220 to 230 miles on a full tank (with lpg you tend to drive full to empty as a matter of routine, so you always noticed). No matter how hard i drove it, time of year, heating or air con. Always the same.

The m/kwh always seems way off on short journeys. Fluctuates a lot. I would only pay attention to it after a good number of miles. Even if you were only getting 3.0 that still only a few hundred £/year compared with 2-3k for diesel for 10k miles. And it's a far far nicer driving experience. The heater seems to be the main culprit for lowering economy.

Same here. My old Volvo mpg isnt affected by the weather, even if you have heating set to "Tropical". Lpg/Petrol/Diesel - all the same. When you put the heater on you're just directing waste engine heat back into the cabin so not burning any more energy.

Granted @MilesperkWh may be no oil painting, but that's a bit harsh.....

8 miles doesn’t give the system time to accurately calculate the true miles per KWh average, you need to give it at least 20 miles….

Your heater does a lot of work on a short trip.

I do keep giving the heater quick blasts to clear the condensation. But probably 20 secs or so before it's off again.

I charged it to 100% and am trying to do this next week without any journeys I wouldn't normally take. Just to get a sense of what a full charge gets me.

Then I'll do an 80%-20% week

If it is at 100% then kers3 doesn't work.
I just charge upto between 80-90% and only do 100% once a month.
My 33 miles to work starts at low 3 but thats with heater etc on and a cold battery by the time I get to work it's normally 3.7-3.8 even in this weather, was over 4 in the summer.
What model do you have? Mine is an SR

I tend to drive with heater & air con on auto about 21oC, switching to clear the screen when needed. Only drive at speed limit but possibly get to 30mph faster than I need to - tend to get about 3.0 miles/kWh but recently got 3.5 on a 150 mile trip (100 miles motorway at 65mph).

I was initially concerned, now not to fussed. It said mid 2’s on a short trip but it’ll all average out. I might get into the 4’s on day. Once spring appears.

Yep, good point @biffo - KERS won't work if you're at 100% because it's got no capacity for any more input!

Apparently KERS does work on LFP batteries up to 100% but not on Lithium batteries until lower 90's%. My LEAF it starts to work at 99% but it's not until about 95% it becomes noticeable

Have to say I've never driven a car with windows that misted up so easily.
