New MG ZS LR initial frustrations

I will get a set of the 19mm ones when I get my car and leave them on if they don’t stick out too far
 
Strange that the original ZS EV with the diamond cut alloys, does have valve extensions as standard from the factory, but not on the face lift model ?????.

You don’t need to fit them permanently just screw one on when checking tyre pressures. Keep it in the box with your electric pump.
Good idea, I was wondering if leaving them on might upset the wheel balance. (y)
 
Ah thank you for the tip yes, holding the stalk does work.

For the * there are only 3 options: Show the Quick Menu, Carplay/Android Auto, 360 one-touch.
Unfortunately the quick menu is mostly empty and doesn't even have a link to settings it in. Unless there is someway to add things to it.
not sure as I don't have the gen2 yet. In Gen1 I think you set it to car settings, then the speed limiter settings are on the first page.
 
How has the efficiency been for any of the initial users?
2.8 to 3.0 on average here for short journeys but enjoying myself rather that driving economically. Correcting the tyre pressures helped.

Did a longer journey 60-70mph on the warmer day recently (14c) and got 3.5 with AC off, tailwind and driving carefully. Mrs got 2.9 on the way back but it was colder, darker and a headwind.

On our Trophy Connect we have experienced our first infotainment screen freeze. We were using Google Maps at the time. Disconnecting the phone and android auto did nothing so we were stuck on a screen full of irrelevant map. I wasn't up to speed with the possibility of forcing a reset by holding the Home button down so I will have to try that next time. Stopping and starting did nothing so I went for the 10mm spanner which I had ready thanks to this forum. I noticed on another thread that someone had said they were waiting for the 2022 model which would have cured the screen freeze. Sorry, no. It does seem like an issue MG should have addressed but hasn't.
Our car is booked into the garage on the 10th January to try to sort out the certificate/authentification issues which is stopping us using MG navigation and stopping us using ismart because it won't bind. There has been a lot of back and forth between the garage and MG and I'm told it will be a 4 hour job to reinstall the software which MG has prepared.
Finally, ~ I noted the advice on this thread about getting the tyre pressure to 41psi. When I went to look I was surprised not to have dust caps on the valves. Did others get them?

Maybe the software reinstall will hopefully cure the head unit from freezing up ?.
Has some “pond life” stolen your valve caps I wonder ?.

Eek! I did read about the reset in the manual (hold home for 10 seconds). What did you use the 10mm spanner for, the battery?

Can you share what software versions you have?

We have dust covers on ours

The spanner was used to disconnect and then reconnect the negative terminal of the battery, A ten seconds job.
When I had written my first comment this morning I thought I had better check and fill the tyres. All the tyres were at a pressure of 35.5 but I then ran into the problem of accessing the valves to fit the compressor. I managed one wheel but decided I would get valve extenders before I finished the job. £2.50 for 4 from Aliexpress.
I have not yet done a proper measure of the mpkwh but the car tells me that the 20% charge it needs to get to 80% will add 57 miles. I hope that reflects me tottering along the motorway at 65 mph.

Is your figure "normal" for the ZS and just something the Zoe does a bit better at?

I think that there is a fair chance that the unofficial Thai ZS EV app will work on the refresh model. It will report over 20 firmware versions, but I strongly suspect it doesn't have all the entertainment system firmwares.

It would be interesting to compare a few more version numbers, if any refresh model owners are up to fetching and reporting them.

We have a Zoe here too (Q210 motor) which we drive in a similar way. Our Zoe does get have higher efficiency but it is lighter and has a heat pump so it's very efficient around town.

For the ZS we've found it is more efficient at higher speeds like A roads, I guess all that extra weight wants to keep the car moving forwards. In town it's more weight to brake and accelerate.

Zoe wins overall on efficiency especially the R motors.

Interesting Last time I checked (28th Dec) we had SWI66-29958-1300R15 in our Trophy.

I will check it again to see if it has changed.

My car is in the garage on Monday for a software re-install to try to cure the 'binding/activate certificate/parameters not correct' problem. I'll report the revised software build number. On Wednesday I'm due to have a towbar installed. Witter offered to do a necessary software update for towing at a cost fo £70. I said no. I'm hoping the garage might do that for me as a courtesy. We'll see.

My home smart charger supplier asked me to tell them the telematics of the MG refresh so they can make the charger talk to the car. Do you understand what that means and where I might find it?
