MG HS PHEV
Hi peeps

Just picked up a mg hs phev,.. When driving in auto mode..the best fuel economy I can get is 6.7l to 100km... Am littie disappointed would if thought it do better then that 😔 am I doing something wrong driving it very light foot and under 100kms.. Roads are not flat but not hilly either... When in ev mode I got down to 1.6l to 100kms over a 20k run... And 6.7l over a 60k run.. Did have the ac on but low setting.... Any tips to get a better fuel economy?

my tip is drive it for some time then look at the accumulated total screen. Your car is new and there is a run in period.

OK thanks will do.. I guess it needs time to loosen up the engine.. Did you find it very thirty when it was new for you?

I got my car in the summer so most driving was done in EV and I was putting in about £7 to £10 a week. My 308sw peugeot would use about £17 to £20 a week, now petrol has gone up but I do about 100 a week driving to and from work which is urban roads also it’s cold here now so the ICE is working more but I put in £40 a mont. I do not worry about mpg just how much it cost to fill the car, it’s made big savings I pay out on fuel from my other car. It cost me around £20 per month on electricity on my current tariff.

Thanks for your comment.. And maybe I need to give it littie more time and drive it in pure ev and hybrid mode then see what I get in a week / month... Was just expected the hybrid mode to be littie better then what am getting... But still its a new engine

When in Auto mode, the car uses engine over 24 mph. Engine by itself is thirsty. The idea is to use EV mode as often as you can.

Your figures are consistent with what I get. The PHEV comes into it's own on short urban journeys, as long as you have it in EV mode for as long as possible (which is less in winter than in summer).

There seems to be some variation as to the petrol consumption when in auto on here, my pics are from when I drove home from Guildford, the 21 miles, 80 miles in tank, so filled up near home ready for my next trip, as you can see, my overall mpg from new about 70mpg, the trip was 62 and from the garage on EV, and had 18 miles left, add the 14 I will have when charge up the total range will be 386 miles on a full charge & tank, others only get just over 300 I see.

There is it will depend your travel my one is low because most of my travel is 15 mph average. And I also use more petrol because of the slow gear change which doesn’t help.
