I thought I'd post a thread after sabotaging another one on the MG5 forum. My Wallbox Pulsar Plus was installed a couple of days ago and it takes me about half an hour for the App to connect to the charger via Bluetooth using my Android phone. The connection then drops almost as soon as it has been established. I have contacted Wallbox customer support and tried their suggestions to no avail. I then installed the app on my daughter's iPhone and it worked straight away. I was wondering if anyone who has this charger and an Android phone has managed to establish a successful connection. I feel very minded to contact Octopus (they managed the installation of the charger) and ask them to cover the cost of an iPhone- or guarantee my current Go electric rate for another 12 months-probably the same amount of money!!

😂 Good luck

My reply is in MG 5 threads it is a Nokia 7.2, Android 10 with latest security patch.

Try switching Bluetooth off on the phone and use WiFi?

I used to use my Nokia 5.3 running Android 10 successfully, and currently use my Google Pixel 4A running Android 11. It sounds like it could be a Bluetooth data issue on your Android Phone. Did you turn on and configure Wi-fi while you had your daughter's iPhone, then try from somewhere out of Bluetooth range.

Many thanks for this response as well as your other one.
I will try turning off Bluetooth- Wallbox customer support said that a Bluetooth connection was necessary prior to establishing a WiFi connection, which confused me somewhat.

Thanks for the reply.
I haven't configured anything as regards WiFi- even when it has managed to connect I can't access the connectivity tab in the app settings as it is permanently greyed out. I have installed and uninstalled the app which didn't help. On my daughter's phone I was able to access the connectivity tab and it confirmed it is definitely connected to WiFi. I would use it on her phone but not really practical as she is a teenager and it was hard enough to talk her into installing the app in the first place!

As soon as I turned off Bluetooth it connected straight away!! Many thanks for all your help.
My understanding is you only need the Bluetooth for the initial setup and then after that you can use WiFi.

Instead of turning off your Bluetooth altogether, you can go into the Bluetooth settings and 'forget' the connection to your charger.

Does your Bluetooth automatically connect to your car, could that be confusing it ?

So mine now wont connect to my wifi. It used to but not anymore, just says try later. Nothin has changed on my wifi side so very strange tried uninstalling the app, probably will have to try a full power off and re register factory reset. Saying that I dont really need wifi if the bluetooth works but still annoying.

Your WiFi may have autonegotiated to use a different channel to not interfere with a neighbouring WiFi network. Not all channels work with all devices. Some of the higher numbers are outside of the original spec scope so just won't connect to some devices.

Try manually setting to a channel in the 1 to 12 bracket for the 2.4ghz ssid, obviously avoid a channel that it'd detecting a neighbouring signal uses. Worst case scenario, it doesn't improve it, but you at least ruled it out.

I am having problems with bluetooth connectivity between my iPhone 13 and my Wallbox Pulsar. If I delete the app and power cycle the Wallbox, I can get it to establish a bluetooth connection. However, once I break the bluetooth link by walking a few metres away, it won't reconnect. I stays on the "purple circle" that says it is trying to pair. Strangely, if I look on the settings page of my iPhone it says that the Wallbox is paired.

I have tried the connection on a different device - an Ipad 5th Gen and exactly the same problem occurs.

I tried the solution described above, of turning off Bluetooth to force it to the wifi connection but it doesn't work - I can't get past the bluetooth pairing screen and it prompts me to turn bluetooth on.

Help appreciated!

Channel has always been set to the channel furthest away from neogbour and not changed, no other device has any issues, I actually bought a separate good router to replace my virgin router to solve these types of issues and has been working fine for a year nearly. the wallbox also connects to both 2.5 and 5 in the past and now doesn't connect to either.

I too have a Wallbox charger. My problem is that it will still keep flashing blue (ie charging) even though the car is full. Even get a message saying that the car is fully charged. Made contact with Wallbox support. They think it’s a sleep setting. Yet I could not find such setting within MG. my iPhone gets a message saying the car of full. So you would think the wallbox would stop flashing blue and return to green. Avoid if able …

Tbh the position the charger is in I can't readily see the LED colours. The only time I check the coloured LEDs for is to see that the schedule is accepted and set.

I now understand the problem. It’s nothing to do with the Wallbox charger which is working perfectly. Once the logo is solid, the Wallbox will continue to deliver power as the MG balances. This can take many hours. Once it’s balanced, the logo will switch off and the Wallbox will return to off state. when using rapid chargers, they monitor the level of power being used by the MG and if it falls below a certain level, they switch off. They do not allow balancing. Hope this helps.

I have similar issue. Initially worked fine but the Wallbox wasn't recording sessions for me to look at. Restarted the wallbox and now I can't discover it with Bluetooth on two devices - bit buggered now
