I've read that Ohme have announced a new feature for their chargers - preconditioning.
(For some API cars it can also set the cabin temperature).
FYI, basically if you select it, when it works out its (so called) clever actual charging schedule, it will ensure that the last 30mins of the charge is done just before the user setup ready by time. Realistically not much use for non API cars such as ours/Gen 1 in most scenarios unless you're willing to tweak it up every time you plug in based on current SoC.

It got me wondering, forget about preheating/cooling the cabin, as that clearly is advantageous (especially if it were to use the power from the plugged in charger rather than battery), is it really a good thing in terms of warming up the actual battery prior to using it??

I don't drive it much - especially in the cold mornings, so don't know (via obd2 app) what temperature the battery is when it's 0c outside and what sort of temperature the battery then gets to when driving. Anyone know?

I know there was the "option" for the battery heater via infotainment system on the gen1, I'm wondering if it could actually be useful on very cold mornings.

Thoughts anyone?

VW think so!
