Motorola to release a wireless adapter for Android Auto at the end of the month (in the US at least)

Not an awful price and no worries about them being a startup who'll run off with your cash...

I have the AA Wireless Indiegogo device. Paid £50, did take a while to come through and there was the risk they would “run off with your money”. That said it’s a great device and a market leader for Android Auto and works in a huge range of cars. I would happily recommend it.

I also went with AA wireless. Works almost flawlessly (just issues with interference causing disconnection in 1 place in sheffield).

Tbh my fear is, having been burnt before, is you do get the product but they quickly stop producing/supporting it.

/shakes fist at DreamScreen

I have to admit to not really seeing the value here - perhaps I'm missing something but AA/Carplay etc. are really useful for longer journeys, not so much for just 10 minutes nipping to the shops, and in such an event one would have to plug the phone in to charge anyhow (as both Google and Apple maps are very power hungry when in guidance mode), thus surely that would negate the reason for such a device as this?

If it's plugged in to charge, why not plug it into the AA/CP port? What have I missed?

See, told you I was missing something - my phone doesn't wirelessly charge, hence this never even popped up on to my 'why would you do that' radar :ROFLMAO:
Even without wireless charging it’s got its uses on both short and long journeys. As soon as it’s connected you can issue google commands, so whilst your driving you remember something and if you’re forgetful like me you can say “Hey google - remind me when I get home to do the washing” or “hey google turn on the heating”

I can do that anyhow with both Alexa (preferred) or Google already without any dongles - it appears my phone is always listening so picks that up anyhow (along with all the other conversations we have to ensure that 5 minutes after we've discussed bookshelves Facebook, Instagram etc. are serving up ads for IKEA).
The only thing we've ever found it useful for is 100yds from home ask "Alexa, open the gates" and it saves me a whole 100th of a second finding the gate buttons on the keyring

I don't actually use Android Auto in my current car.
The Zoe SatNav get traffic updates and they're useful even though it's still relatively short journeys but, unless I've misunderstood, when I move to the ZE Trophy it won't have that and I will miss it.

I also know I'll keep forgetting to plug in the cable before I set off and, as I am a good boy (/cough), won't be trying to do it while driving along.
Another plus is hide the dongle away nicely and then there's no cables making the place look scruffy :D
