MG Motor UK delivers largest ever car shipment to Portbury Docks

Interesting read, what's strange is that I called up so many dealers asking about a new red HS PHEV a week ago. Most were quoting October, some quoted December, the worst one quoted in the new year. Surely if MG was delivering so many vehicles in the next week, the dealers should have known about it???
Just about every EV/HYBRID cars on these boats are for existing orders, with many having waited since summer 21 or worse. Hence what dealers may be saying for new or prospective orders. On a recent Podcast it was explained that MG UK had advised that 11.000 cars (EV&ICE all models) are due by end of Feb

WHY does MG not keep dealerships up to date so as they can pass on these to those who are buying there cars. It is so far not a good service from MG
I don’t think MG are very pro active. Their masters are SAIC and they have do as they are told. Don’t forget Chinese customer service as a culture is zero and so it’s take it or leave it.
In-spite of gathering this perceived over view from various YouTube sources I do like my ZS EV.

Thanks. You have yours I am still waiting.
As am I.

But I know my dealer has access to an MG "Database" which lists all the cars the dealer has ordered and shows a "progress report" on when each one is "likely" to be delivered. (I do stress "likely". In my own case, an original delivery date of late-February to early-March is now May or June!)

Slightly OT, but when the salesman showed me the screen that listed all the cars, several were shown as being "In the Sea"!!! Presumably/hopefully the Chinese version of "Aboard Delivery Ship".

My MG dealer has just informed me there is a a two months delay due to a fire at a SAIC factory.
True or false?

Do not know about a fire. But I have notified by my dealership. That my car is on sea and will get it on 21st march. Ordered in 13th Sept 2021

In my case the dealer told me. To be honest I would think it has to be on the ground and accounted for/assigned to them before they'd have any information to give you, if that makes sense. They don't seem to have any info with regards to what's on the ship.

Basically until it lands its pure guesswork from the dealers perspective. That's what I've deduced anyway, could be wrong.
I think they are allocated on arrival is my understanding.

There was a fire in a semiconductor factory that supplied chips to SAIC/motor industry. But it was March 2021.

It has caused a serious backlog and although they were back to normal production levels in June/July that doesn't help them catch up.

Your dealer reinforces my thought that most of the industry couldn't tell you the truth if their lives depended on it.

Well mine phoned me Friday morning. Said car was on ship. Due at portbury docks soon. And will be able to pick up on 22st March. So he must know something to say that

I order the new car in November 2021 and given delivery date third week in March 2022. Now given last week in May 2022 due to fire at the SAIC factory!

There is a Car Carrier WITH MGs on it coming through to Portbury. Gone passed Gibraltar heading our way. It stops off at two more points then Britain

We've had the Durban Highway and Viking Sea both been and gone into Portbury both from Shanghai
@Newmansince "Can any one tell me when the next delivery from china is due in portbury docks"

@Jonnobris @Merry @Dave shannon

Dear all watching

Preston MG.. some cars arrived this week (beginning of March) that the paperwork on the screen indicates Viking Sea - Bristol (Portbury)... VesselFinder shows it was in Portbury on February 11th so that’s about 1 Month before the cars arrived in Preston. Not knowing how many cars were on board means there could still be some on the 'dock side'...

Other transporters that are mentioned elsewhere on the forum are..
Grand Pioneer - was in Southampton on 28th Feb - now in Belgium
Sunlight Ace - was in Portbury Bristol on 2nd March - now in Belgium
HOEGH TRANSPORTER - On its way to Poet Kembia Australia

Also mentioned in a thread elsewhere... someone was contacted to choose their registration before they had any sight of their car.

Patiently waiting
