How is your dealer ?

As I've said in previous threads, I haven't had any issue with Frasers of Falkirk at all. They are very helpful.

My only beef is that it's a round trip of over 300 miles, so it's quite a jaunt. But we make a day of it, and are lucky enough to be able to manage our time to suit.

I ordered MG5 from SERE in Belfast. Obviously haven't got it yet but with regards to the test drives and sales process they were very helpful and friendly. Whether that continues remains to be seen but fingers crossed.

I test drove a car with Frasers of Falkirk in Edinburgh but no movement on type 2 charging cable and floor mats wanted £250.
Went to Arnold Clark MG Glasgow paid same price got mats and charger thrown in.
Had to pay £95 for comfort update but everything else also updated when I picked it up.
2weeks later sales manager called me and said they had a price drop and sent me a £200 cheque as MG had given them a discount.
Very helpful good service.

Panda Motors in Swansea did all the updates and deal done over the phone. Pick up was painless so cannot fault them only problem is they are not my local dealer but if I do have problems with service from my local dealers I will be having a day out I Swansea.

Question? Are MG dealers required to update any changes or do you have to ask them first?

And so it begins again, my location has caused some consternation on here - search online and you'll see what I mean. It is a UK dealer btw - Hendy Group

Hendy MG have dealers in Crawley Exeter Poole Bournemouth and Salisbury. I have ordered a new MG from one of them so would be interested to know which one has not been up to scratch?

Stoneacre in Spondon, Derby have been OK with me.....But they did charge me for the comfort update.

Based on my experience, I'm going to avoid all for the future, except for pre-paid servicing.

My MG dealer Wlmg in Eastcote (near Ruislip) tells me there are no updates. Car brought in March 2020.
True or false?

False, any cars built before mid year 2020 are definitely due the 2 updates for BMS & DC\DC to remove the risk of the main fuse blowing in some situations as well as allowing the car to be unlocked whilst AC charging.

Comfort 2 is definitely worth having.......I don't regret paying my £80.....but ideally it should have been FOC.

Can not fault Horsham Car center.
Ah! I was hoping someone might mention a Sussex Dealership!
I had a test drive from Horsham MG Car Centre a couple on months ago and loved the car from the first minute. Trying to hold off ordering until I hear something from Octopus Energy about my smart meter upgrade, as the on-street charging in Brighton is still very limited to ICE-and-Resident shared-use 3.5 kWh lamp post chargers and almost no Rapids at all without driving 10 miles!
I've read that the service dept. is in a different place to the showroom where I took the text-drive from. Have you had satisfactory answers and action about all the updates from the service department? Do you have any savvy technician names to pass on?

False, send them this documentation as proof of one of the updates.

Looking on MG website the new update 2nd generation of software is irreversible once applied and not covered by warranty !!! That doesn't sound giving much confidence in their product!

Interesting.

If new cars are being delivered to customers with the updated software (i.e. not having been requested by the buyer) then I would have thought that MG are responsible for it? Also, existing owners that have the update applied should have had the warranty implications pointed out to them?

Could you point us to the page on the MG Web site where you can read about this?
