The old Ford Galaxys/VW Sharans had an issue like that.
The water would run down the windscreen and into the fuse box which would give up it's water resistance after a couple of years. The most common sign of this would be the auto window down function (for opening them on hot days remotely) would activate. So people would come back to their cars in the rain and find all the windows open and the doors locked.
Such fun.
My brother had a Ford SMax, which he considers the worst car he every owned. If you hit a decent size pothole, the windscreen would crack (he had 12 replacements) and if you went through a large puddle, the car would cut out and need towing to a Ford dealer (4 or 5 times).
He couldn't wait to get shot of it.
