MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

I ordered from TW as well, they were quite open about my car status, they sent me a screenshot of the status but no name on the screenshot or other specific details relating to my order, so it could be anyones really (but im trying not to be cynical 🤨).
Also it shows order was placed in December, but dealer said it didnt get pushed through till January, so not sure what that means either, if anyone understands that please clarify for me. Ive kind of given up asking my dealership any more questions because it doesn’t get me closer to knowing anything more, just creates more questions. Just going to have to be patient and hopefully get the car before the end of this year 🤲🏻
By the way ive attached the screenshot for your amusement 😆
I have ordered same car, same colour, same day, spooky 🤣

I haven't seen anything from Tunbridge Wells (except for the generic emails saying they don't know anything). I haven't chased my order as understand they know as much - or possibly less than we do on the forum!

The orders I saw were Nathanials but presumably TWs are tracking in the same way. It was just an interesting conversation with the Nathanials rep as there was no sales opportunity so seemed quite genuine.

I ordered 2 days after you (7th December). Worrying if they didn't put the orders through until January (depending on what that means) as we got in before the grant situation changed. I'm hoping that doesn't create an issue down the line when we eventually get the cars!
No you should be alright with your order i’d imagine. I ordered in March but secured one of the cars they had on pre-order, got there after the grant but still got a good affinity discount deal so no complaints there.
Mine was one they had put on pre-order Dec 5th but pushed through in Jan apparently?! Not sure why or how that happens, I thought it’s electronically put through when you order. If any one knows anything different please clarify

My cynical self is returning 😅
Might yours have been a stock pre-order too?

perhaps we should change the thread to transporter updates 😁 and a thank you to Gadget Geek as I am now closely watching Grand Victory ETA 8TH MAY 🤞GRAND VICTORY Current position (Vehicles Carrier, IMO 9334234) - VesselFinder
From what I can tell, this is now somewhere near Portugal, with an ETA of Sunday evening... I will say, until this wait I didn't realise just how darn long shipping really takes 😩

The info in that screenshot pretty much looks like what saw of the central ordering system. Your specific 10 digit reference should be on the same row, if I recall correctly.... I noted mine so I can tell whether any change is made, & it's also the reference the MG Call Centre use.

I think I mentioned before that it was heavily implied to me by more than one dealer, that those willing to pay more could find themselves higher up in the queue. The way I presume this could be aided is by switching customer names around on the lines

Not a clue dealer did say when he changed names on preordered cars MG changed them back? 🤔

Yes my 10 digit reference number is on my order form, and i find it highly suspicious that they would cut that information out on a personal email sent only to me 🤨
A lot feels off but i think dealerships now lie out their teeth to get orders maybe and dont care cause they know if you cancel someone else is there waiting to take tour spot in the line, and if you cancel you only end up being further down the line with some other car manufacturer with equally bad turnaround times.
Ridiculous time we find ourselves in and had I owned a car id stick by it for however long necessary to let this situation resolve itself, but I’m desperate unfortunately, and I find it appalling that dealerships would resort to bribery in fact (as you mention) to push people up the queue!! I sure hope this is not the case, surely MG should be monitoring their ordering system or have some mechanism to avoid this!

Hi all,
Odd one for you, I am looking for suggestions. My order is placed around end of Dec 2022 for LR Trophy connect directly through a dealership. But no delivery date at sight and also MG UK said the same.
I changed my job around same time and just recently finished probation period. Now that allows me to use company salary sacrifice scheme, I think by Zenith. It does have good package for same LR Trophy connect compared to direct dealership package. They are advising 23week lead time through Zenith. Do I cancel direct order and go for salary sacrifice, what would be impact on the order que? Financially sure this is better but I am more concerned about delivery date. I do need car before end of this year. Any suggestions?? Do MG UK strictly following order que, first come first serve??
I had a salary sacrifice with Zenith a few years back and they were good. Your biggest issue will be that you’ll be joining the back of the queue. I’ve spoke to a few dealers today. Most are saying Sep-Nov window for my Jan LR order, but can get an SR within a few weeks. I’d be amazed if you put an order in now and saw a 2022 delivery.

I understood from Miles on Monday’s podcast that this is because all pre-orders have to be cancelled and cannot be transferred to a customer. As such, if someone cancels the whole order needs to be cancelled and cannot be transferred unless MG give consent. MG are going to check that the dealer registers the car to the same name on the order form and if they don’t then they will be fined. As such, I presume this is why they are changing the name back to the original order name as these should have been cancelled rather than assigned to someone else.

I was told this:
“MG have changed the way we order/pre order cars now so where as before we would order a load of cars in our dealerships names as stock and as and when they sell allocate them to you but now we are not aloud to do that and can ONLY order cars based on sold orders, I got in there before this changed with your car so you had one of the earlier ones coming.”

So my understanding is that my car was ordered under the dealership’s name and then allocated to me back when they still allowed this practice.

I believe what you mention is probably a little different, it’s for dealerships who tried to bypass this ban on pre-orders and ordered under “fake names” and MG are very rightly trying to prevent this by reverting the names to the original order names.

If only dealerships were able to communicate better and be honest and upfront we would be so much more settled and not have to be on these forums seeking out shipping updates and speculating about order proceedings..so frustrating 😓

Sorry in advance for my ranting messages ✌️

Tusker have now updated my order again. Early Sept . Getting worried now. 😟. It does say 40 weeks for new orders though, which would seem right as mine was in Jan.

Hang on, maybe it’s me…maybe I’m a bit thick, but if a dealership ordered a stock car in (made Up name) Mr Smith and the car turns up for a Mr Smith, what stops them selling said car to Mr Jones? Isn’t it just a case of telling DVLA that the car is now owned by Mr Jones…as far as MG in China/UK are concerned the cars sold…is it just a paperwork problem?

MG are fining the dealer if the car isn't registered in the same full name that was on the original order. Miles confirmed this on the podcast and said the fine was more than they made selling the cars so there is no incentive to do it.

Think he also said order book had reduced from 30k to 15k because of that embargo so clearly it was prolific.

Just had the anticipated confirmation from Macklin Motors MG Edinburgh that my red Trophy LR (ordered mid-March and initially estimated for July) is now showing on their system as due in September. They did say they were still expecting some SRs and MG5s next month, so seems consistent with other dealers who are seeing the biggest delays with LRs.

Given that I can’t charge at home, range is high priority for me so I’ll be waiting for the LR. Though I’ve had to hand back my leased Hyundai Kona EV and will be taking delivery of a monthly lease Renault Zoe ZE50 from ONTO tomorrow to tide me over, so I’ll have a chance to see how I cope with the shorter range on that.
I don't understand how you can order in mid March and be told September. I ordered Trophy LR last December and been told September too. How can a 4 month order date difference give the same delivery time. It's high time all these dealers got together and got their stories straight.
This will definitely be my last new MG.....not going through this nightmare again.

Zenith is just a broker. Once you placed order on Zenith through salary sacrifice, they then find the dealer for you and place an order. Zenith just handle the process of assuring the dealer the car will lease out as company car with guarantee payment towards dealer, and to your employer as saving employer's NI contributions for you and some sort of assurance to your employer that you're likely to stay till the end of lease.

For Zenith to find a dealer, it will take about 2 weeks once the salary sacrifice processed.

My ZS Trophy Connect in Black is now 'at sea' and due in to Portbury on 15th June (ordered 14th November). Does anyone up on the shipping know which Ship this is?
No ships 15th

I agree, ordered my Zs in October and have been told September the same bland message everyone seems to be getting, there must be something going on either that or they have booked Noah's Ark to deliver all these September Deliveries

I just wonder if they have just told everyone September, then if they arrive earlier people will be happy.

I think the keep just say 4 months that gives 1 to make and 3 to ship? So until your told shipped it will keek getting pushed back by 4
