I am running a spreadsheet and I am charging at home with a Kw rate of 15p for the rest of this month then I will get hit with a 27p a Kw rate.
at the moment I am getting 1.5 pence per mile.
Happy days ICE cars are at approx 17 pence per mile if they are lucky.

Once you move onto the variable, it's worth switching to Octopus Go if, assuming you're an average household, you charge more than 6 hours a week.

I'm fortunate just now, taking advantage of 0p a Kw with public charging. It winds my mates right up, 😂

All very well, but what worries me is how long do the electric motors last and what happens when the batteries are shot?

And that's the problem. I had a motorbike that had done 126,000 miles when I sold it with nothing done to the engine and still on the original clutch! On the other hand you can knacker an engine by not running it in properly and abusing it. I guess an electric motor with its lack of moving parts is unlikely to fail to the same extent. It's early days I suppose.

Several actually, if you care to look. At least 3 Kia models. Ssang Yong Tivoli another.
Had 2 Tivolis, cracking cars, shame they don't make an ev Tivoli. Still liking the MG. Oh and a friend of mine done the cluctch on a Dacia Duster . It was only 4 months old, not covered by warranty. Cost him £635 and that was a discount of 45% apparently 🤔

A Meriva at present. Put a deposit on an MG5, upon returning from only a 20 mile test drive we were so impressed. However due to the fact that Budgen's somehow 'lost' us £1k when the Government reduced the grant, increased the payments considerably from the amount I budgeted for and removed the 0% interest rate, I had to cancel the whole sorry mess, much to my disappointment.
I'm hopeful to eventually buy an EV in the future, in the meantime I'm keeping up with the EV world via this excellent forum, unless I get barred for having an ICE vehicle!
I do own a Zero electric motorcycle, so that must count for something!

Thats not so good, but then thats Boris at his best. Hopefully it'll work out for you. Like the idea of a leccie bike, used to ride a Kawasaki a few years ago. 😀

I must admit it's a hoot! Did manage to cover 117 miles on one charge once! I've had a string of Kawasaki's over the years, great bikes. Downsized to an Royal Enfield Classic 350 recently. It's doing over a 100 mpg!

No where near as the 10x as much you worry about all those engine, exhaust, fuel repairs on legacy cars or the 100x as much as you worry about servicing & reducing engine performance!

Has your Meriva not caught fire then? They're always catching fire, known issue, I'd worry about that a lot and those crappy Vauxhall gearboxes always break before 150k, and then there's the . . .

And of course EVs never catch fire do they?
Statistically, 10% of the rate of petrol / diesel cars due to the lack of heat, fire & smoke endemic in those legacy cars.

Actually the top cause of fires in a crash are brake fluids getting onto the exhaust pipe manifold.

The new BYD blade battery doesn't even catch fire if damaged.
