MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Got a call from my local dealer.
The good news is there are cars available "very soon" but need to be sold asap.
The bad news is that they are the short range ones, and there is no visibility at all about the long range timelines.

Just checked Portbury arrivals around the 18th, nothing that looks likely.
Unless the salesman or myself were a bit too excited and got mixed up and it's already here and due at dealers on the 18th. But not sure because he said was going on holiday on the 24th for a week so might not be here to deal with me.

Guaranteeeing? In writing with penalties? That may shift the needle for me to Kia.

Does anyone know here if real world consumption (miles per kwh) is materially different or similar between the MG ZS and the Niro EV? I am guessing there will be a difference in winter since the Kia has a heat pump?
When you say heat pump, do you mean battery heating? Our ZS has that.

Who's your dealer? (In a car sense, not a £5 baggie one 🤣 )

Same here, Trophy Connect LR, Blue, ordered Dec 21, not expecting anytime soon, their too busy making all the SE & Trophy orders, only once they’ve all been fore filled will that start on the Connects, it’s like was said by miles in the podcast “why make one Connect when you can make 2 SE’s with the same amount of chips”, given up ringing for an update.
I get the logic, but I’ve heard of very few SE models being released. Overall, it’s the SRs in Trophy spec that seem most readily available at the min, suggesting it’s primarily an issue with the LR vs SR rather than spec.

This is not a drill - Parked up in a trading estate in Gloucester is a vehicle carrier with mostly ZS EVs on it in white!!

1 blue one but sadly that wasn't an EV

No way to tell if SR or LR, but it was a glorious sight to behold either way.

Driver was still in the cab so would have been too weird to take a picture!

So it appears there are at least ZSEVs coming into the country! Probably all SR - but there’s hope!!

Ordered a MG ZS EV long range trophy connect first week in January 22 , sales representative no longer at dealer so decided to phone for delivery update, was told car hasnt started to be built yet, what doesn’t surprise me looking at other people who have been waiting since last year.
it also hasn’t helped that the factory has been closed down due Covid outbreak in China.
Also I think that some of the parts were being made in Ukraine which obviously is outside everyone’s control.
just have to be patient and wait my turn.

I quite understand the reasoning about trying to get as many cars built as possible given the shortage of components, but at the end of the day we are all customers waiting for our new cars and it doesn't make financial sense to keep cutting out one section of customers and pushing them to the back of the queue all the time just to get cars moving. We are all good paying customers at the end of the day and should be given the same respect for our orders as everyone else is.

In an ideal world, where you can get a supply of parts, agreed. But the point Miles made was if you can’t get the parts for x model but you can for y, you’d make more of y in the meantime.

Interestingly I just spoke to Jet Finance who are advertising LR models as “coming soon”. Apparently they have some pre-orders from Nov-21 not allocated to customers which are due in Sept-22. Doesn’t fill me with enough confidence to switch my order from Vanarama.

Anyone knows if their dealer will get the £1500 fines or do fleet buyers have special treatments?

Wouldn’t the buyer in this instance be the finance/lease company - that’s whose name will appear on the V5 and therefore onus on them to have takers for the cars?

Just had an update from leasing company regards my zs ev se long range order feb 22
Was told sept now cannot give me a date as not got a build date yet
At least they keep me informed even if nothing further has happened with the order

If ZS EV SR's are being built, but ZS EV LR's are still on shortage, surely the problem must be with the ZS EV LR's batteries and nothing to do with "ic chip or wiring harness" shortages.
As far as I can tell the spec of the SR ZS EV's are identical to the LR ZS EV's .

LRs are being built just not for the UK market. Check the German forum they have quite a few deliveries recently. Another thought is that SRs are much more profitable so that’s what they’re making.

IMO sub £30k for LR Connect when the grant was available was such great deal and people who bought them at that price were “locked in”. So MG doesn’t have to worry about not fulfilling those orders at speed. Sure it may put some of us off the brand but so long as they keep their actual intention vague they will survive.

The wait continues!
