Something worth considering on the subject of comparing ICE to EV on servicing costs and warranty periods.
If you have a ICE that comes with a 7 year warranty, then it's similar to warranty offered on a EV in SOME aspects.
They both come with the pre-condition that both have to satisfy with the T&C's set out in the warranty.
The car(s) will need to serviced in-line with them T&C's laid done by the manufacture.
Namely, a solid service history is absolutely essential for any warranty claim to be satisfied in later years of the cars life span.
So, we have to consider the service costs of BOTH cars over that 7 years of ownership.
The service costs of the ICE is going to be more expensive over that time frame for sure.
The ICE is going to be more expensive, because more items will require replacing over an EV.
The items that need replacing over that time scale, maybe also be increased by covering more miles, but some service items will get replaced, purely on a time scale basis regardless.
Quickly, I think you are looking at the following items in a BEST case scenario, it that time frame.
For higher mileage users, this list is likely to be increased and increase cost to the ICE owner.
So, over about six years you are looking at following basic service items for ICE vehicle's :-
Six engine oil and filter changes.
One maybe two set's of spark plugs ( petrol version of course ).
A couple of air filter replacements.
Set of front brakes pads and likely a set of front brake disc's.
A section or two of the exhaust system. ( hopefully not an expensive replacement CAT )
At around five years ( depending on the model ) a cam belt replacement ( not cheap ) and a likely water pump replacement and Aux drive belt at the same time.
Cooling system fluid replaced ( due to the cam belt change ).
A couple of fuel filter replacements.
DSG - Fluid replaced ( if the car is an automatic box or course ).
This is a just typical and basic list of what is to expected course, it omits things like alternator, clutch and slave cylinder replacement etc.
( Ask a Ford / Vauxhall or VAG owner who has needed this £1,000 job done ).
This is just a quick "Off the top of my head list".
Worth remembering that the labour charges have be added to the cost of these items also !.
Over the warranty period, the cost of servicing an ICE over an EV has to be a lot more expensive.
Oh ...... Sorry, forgot to include 6 years road fund license and any congestion charges also.

I must admit it's a hoot! Did manage to cover 117 miles on one charge once! I've had a string of Kawasaki's over the years, great bikes. Downsized to an Royal Enfield Classic 350 recently. It's doing over a 100 mpg!
Whish I still had my bike, my m8 downsized to an Enfield, he loves it. Must get a shot. Keep biking 😀

All brake fluid is flammable and on contact with a hot exhaust manifold combusts, a common occurrence in front end crashes it ignites.

Although petrol is more flammable, there is a plastic pot of the stuff under the bonnet which is the common issue.

All very well, but what worries me is how long do the electric motors last and what happens when the batteries are shot?
The battery will outlast the car several times over. At the end of the car life, the battery will have a second hand value and can be used for grid storage for decades to come. After that, it will be valuable to extract materials for 99% recycling

Evidence to date is that an EV battery lasts 10-15 years in a car before unacceptable degradation then reaching a life of at least 25 years old as grid storage and that is from early EV batteries!

With higher capacity / range batteries we can expect the life of the battery in an EV to exceed 20 years easily and grid storage of around 50 years and that is normal tech.

The 'million mile' LFP batteries are likely to last a century or more!

To the best of my knowledge, with a Zoe in the cases where the battery had degraded past 70% they just replaced the cells that were degraded / malfunctioning and not the whole battery pack...

In the 900 miles I've traveled so far I reckon saved £190 on petrol. Whats not to like about ev's. Happy days. 😀🍷
We've had our MG5 LR since September last year and have covered 6k miles at an electricity cost of around £120. Give or take a tenner as I'm guessing what we spent on a couple of electric highway charges and some of our home charging is free thanks to solar panels.

Our old car was a 2011 Seat Altea XL ecomotive and I reckon that would have cost us around £950 in diesel for the same mileage.

Our costs have been kept down a lot by free charging at hotels as I work away a lot and make sure I select hotels which offer free charging. We also take full advantage of the numerous free podpoint and BP pulse chargers.

So my point really is, If you don't mind a little inconvenience (or sometimes convenience - never yet found a hotel who will fill up my diesel whilst I sleep), you can run these cars for next to nothing!

I heard that MG use the same type of battery where you can replace individual cells if they become degraded.

I got mine LR mg5 from budgens but in time with the grants 😊👍 but am glad as they budgens done the short fall when gov cut the grants
