MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Various mentions of Chorley including in your posts, just don't understand why people can be jealous about a dealer obtaining cars. Any issues should be directed at their own dealer and my apologies for tagging Miles but he is basically the face and voice of Chorley on here...
Dear Mick, I didn’t once blame Chorley or Miles, this is what I said in fact..
MG’s actions, preying on the current automotive cirisis and their customers’ desperation show greed and zero care for their customers, only their pockets. Let me stress that I think that comes from MG and not the dealerships, dealerships sell what they are given or can get their hands on and given the difficulties they are facing, good for them!
I appreciate Miles is doing his job and if he is in MG’s good books that makes him a proactive good dealer and well done to him, no blames on him, they have been suffering as an industry so surely they will accept to sell all they can! It’s MG who are unfairly distributing cars.
I only mentioned the Chorley group because Miles mentioned, on the recent podcast, their acquisition of 60 SR cars, of which my understanding was that not all were named customer orders since he offered them to people watching who are interested in acquiring an SR. I didnt mean to single them out but I dont know of any other dealerships who may have had such grace from MG because I am only a simple customer trying to make sense of all this myself, as unfortunately my dealership who are clearly not in MG’s graces, dont get any updates despite them assuring me that they chase them on a daily basis, and have not received a single EV LR or SR 😞.
I don’t understand the mention of jealousy, it has nothing to do with jealousy, more to do with the expectation that since we live in a democratic country, these democratic proceedings are extended in all aspects of business as well, but maybe I guess here is where it plays a part who owns MG.

Anyways this is my last mention of any of this shambles, this is a shipping updates thread..forgive my “spamming” and venting once again everyone.
Just going to patiently wait for my car which is a great car but has been overshadowed by all this s***show.

Thanks @Oakers for bringing us back on topic. Praying that lots of peoples’ cars are on these two ships 🙏🏻

Me neither...had absolutely nothing to do with anything that was clearly stated. Can't have a fruitful conversation if what you're saying is being misinterpreted - at times you just have to ignore & move on :)

Looking at the Portbury forward movements, it looks like the next ship in with potential MGs aboard is the

* Tranquil Ace (26th May)

followed by:

* Victorious Ace (6th June)

Can't see any others? Any vessel boffins feel free to correct / add!
With cars being delayed for September registration I'm wondering if these will be the last shipments we see until August...? Presumably they can't leave vehicles sitting at Portbury for months.

I think the problem is that the cars are built in China and China don’t just give out information, so this I guess is why MG UK hear nothing from MG China, it also makes no sense making LR EV if you can’t finish them because you don’t have parts A and B…you just can’t have people sitting around doing nothing, so you build what you can, this seems to be SR cars, I guess when they get enough chips to finish a build of a few LR they will…I would rather wait for them to build LR when they can, than have part built cars sitting around in a field…ordered mine 17th December 21, told May get it August…

Tunbridge Wells have no idea when my November LR order will arrive. I will give them until September before I start looking at a Plan B.
I think the issue with this is…if you wait until September, for plan B, then you probably won’t be getting a new car until September 2023…

Quick call from Vanarama today to say that still looking at September but they don't even have a build date so.....

Apparently they are expecting an update from MG mid-June.

Went to the new Niro EV presentation last night. Good looking car nice finish. Talking delivery times seems they are all in the same boat 6-9 months depends on what you order. However sales guy said they have cars available for July 22 delivery these are top spec with heat pump steel pack and grey fake leather seat inserts (£42k) was tempted to order £500 refundable deposit. SWMBO had other ideas grey seat inserts was a nono. Anyway configured car with similar spec to Trophy connect without sunroof which is a bit of a issue as we really love that. Waiting for a delivery date from dealer before placing deposit and see what comes first.

Yes they couldn't even give me a rough estimate, couldnt even say September when I spoke to them yesterday. They said I dont want to mess you about and say September, when I have no idea whether it will be September, sooner or later. MG have given them zero updates on deliveries and they keep chasing apparently.

Luckily for my sanity, my leasing company got back to me today and they said they are happy to extend my lease for 12months with the same agreed terms! Was a huge relief because the 6month extension they were initially offering me, I dont think would be enough as November LR orders haven't started to be fulfilled yet! I can now sit back and try patiently wait for whenever it shows up 😎

Miles on the podcast said that Chorley group were being sent 60 cars, I am sure some were customer orders but he basically advertised on there that Chorley group has cars to sell to customers who wish to cancel their LR orders and grab a SR, which he himself did. Obviously those SRs sent to him were not customer named orders. It makes it all that much more unfair that you yourself are waiting on a SR car and dealerships get given preference to sell more cars rather than fulfil existing orders. Another example of greed and incompetence by MG.
I wish I good cancel my order but unfortunately I cant afford to cancel and lose out on my discount and lower APR and then end up at the back of the queue of a different brand car manufacturer 😡 but for sure never MG again!

I wonder if MG can tell the difference between a customer placed order, and a dealer placed order? I suspect not.

And to be fair to Chorley, they have done the right thing, for themselves at least, by managing to secure a batch of cars to sell in the here and now. I believe dealers are struggling financially just now due to long lead times from pretty much all manufacturers, and are desperate for cars to sell.

Got an email from lease company saying they have a few short range zs ev trophy arriving
I have a long range se zs on order not due to oct at moment what is the real world range on the short range I’m doing 35 miles daily mostly motorway so reason choose long range also will be extra as prices have gone up since I ordered mine is it worth going to the trophy short range now or waiting it out

When I was doing the maths I estimated a motorway range of 140, so you should just about get 4 days worth of travel…

I had a call from Vanarama they also said September but no build slot and it will most likely slip to 2023.

I haven't had a car for years so can wait but it will get to a point where I give up.

Just heard from Kia Niro EV '3' in white with heat pump delivery end July 22 only fly in the ointment is its getting on for £40k. £500 refundable deposit if test drive changes your mind or you have change of mind before delivery. Cant see LR Trophy connect getting here before September OH loves the panoramic roof and £8k is a lot of electrons. Will probably pull the trigger on Niro as it is a more modern looking car and potential updates OTA will hopefully improve it over time. Decisions decisions.

What is your plan B if you don't mind me asking?
I don’t really have one as I have a good situation currently thankfully. I currently own a petrol ZS which I would like to exchange for an EV for the benefits that this would bring. Hybrid cars don’t really interest me. I need a family car with at least 140 miles range in winter and the Niro EV is the only other reasonable comparison that I can see currently. This is £7K more currently than my ZS LR offer so not much point jumping onto that currently. Just generally fed up of waiting for the LR to arrive…
