Alarm going off when charging MG5 LR

Yes, that's what mine does but when on a charge schedule to come on at 12:30 on the LCD display it shows the charge amps ramp up to max 30amps then drop down to zero. The lights on the front of the Ohme circle around showing its on a schedule.
It stays at zero amps until the scheduled start time at which point the lights stop circling around and one of them stays on permanently to show it's charging, at which point you can hear the relays click to pull in.
Then the car alarm goes off, if the doors are locked.
Hi Wiggy, sorry to hear that, l think maybe give Ohme a call they might have come across this before, hope you get sorted
Mick

The OP said it's happening on the granny charger and well so I wouldn't advise ringing Ohme (not that it would hurt, but doubt it's their issue).

Definitely one for the dealer I'm afraid 🙄

Well, garage called today at 10:00am saying they had updated the firmware as it did need an update.
They have also done the recall for the KERS level 3 error where the brake light doesn't come on.

As far as they are concerned the car is all OK and if not then it's the app for my charger.

I did try and explain that I've turned the Bluetooth off in the car and the app only talks to the EVSE.
It all worked OK with my Corsa-e when I had that so seems odd it that could be at fault.

Anyway collecting the car later and will give it a try on schedule charging to see what happens.

All updates have been completed so the car is 100% OK
What the service guy said to me came as a shock though, why have I got a box plugged into the OBD connector!!!!!
I have no idea what it is or what it's used for.
They didn't remove it As they thought I had fitted it.
It has a ribbon cable which goes to the OBD connector. There is a red power cable that's connected to a fuse block Just below the boot release. It also has another two wires a black and white that go down the plastic side trim in the drivers foot well elow the dash.
I'm going to get it fully removed, I could try myself but I need to know where all these wires go first as I have no idea what other issues it might cause.

I have unplugged this thing from the OBD port and it will now delayed charge without setting the alarm off! Woohoo.I
I'm waiting for Cinch to get back to me to see if they know what this thing actually is!

The MG5 is notorious for setting off alarm when an OBD device is plugged in and car locked. I wonder if yours only activates during charging?

Is it a telemetry box for insurance?
Or a feed for a dashcam? Is there any branding on it, Blackvue for example?

Either way it's not very impressive that Cinch sold you the car with it fitted. Exactly what checks do they make on a modern car if they don't access the OBD port?

I have no idea what it is, looking up from the drivers foot well the box is quite big looks to be behind the door mirror controls and start button.
My guess is a telemetry box, but the car only has 2400 miles on it and usually they would only be fitted to bring the insurance down for younger drivers.

I'm sure that's what it is, would be nice to know about it from the start though!
maybe even Cinch don't know about it!

Can't see any branding on it.

Taxi/Private hire vehicles often use telemetry boxes as well. I would be having serious words with Cinch and check that the Guarantee is not impacted if this is the case.

Cinch allegedly do a 225 point inspection that includes the "OBD system"

If it was checked, my suspicion would be that their "Highly trained technicians" didn't know what it was either and thought it in their best interest to leave it alone.

Managed to see the box. telematics GV300TP unit.
Whoever installed it obviously didn't know what they were doing or understand the consequences of connecting into the OBD.
Waiting for someone to come and fully remove it.
It's got power to it, so for now I've just cut the negative wire to make sure it's all dead.

"The GV300TP is a powerful GPS locator designed for vehicle or asset tracking. It has superior
receiver sensitivity, fast TTFF (Time to First Fix) and supports quad band GSM frequencies
GSM850/GSM900/DCS/PCS. Its location can be monitored in real time or periodically tracked by
a backend server or other specified terminals. It has Bluetooth. The GV300TP has multiple
input/output interfaces that can be used for monitoring or controlling external devices. Based on
the integrated @Track protocol, the GV300TP can communicate with a backend server through
the GPRS/GSM network to transfer reports of emergency, geo-fence boundary crossings, low
backup battery and scheduled GPS position as well as many other useful functions. Users can
also use GV300TP to monitor the status of a vehicle and control the vehicle by its external relay
output. System integrators can easily set up their tracking systems based on the full-featured
@Track protocol"

Why would anyone want to track you?

You may want to ask your wife why she has fitted a tracking unit!

She would think that's funny!
I have no idea why this tracker unit was fitted or who fitted it.
I bought the car from Cinch so the people they bought the car from must have had it fitted or Cinch themselves had it fitted.

It's only got 2400miles on the car so makes me think, the tracker was fitted and then they had problems charging so got rid of the car, not realising the clowns had fitted it wrongly!!
Good for me as the car is in mint as new condition, and it was a good price.

If it was checked, my suspicion would be that their "Highly trained technicians" didn't know what it was either and thought it in their best interest to leave it alone.
My take is that either you are correct or that they don't bother with the claimed checks and just accept a few claims in the first few weeks of ownership. Either way it's unacceptable business practice and a breach of the data regulations which ought to be reported to the ICO. If it were me I'd be after significant compensation and getting ready to go to the papers if it's not forthcoming.

Which Ohme do you have? I have the original unit and if you set the app to only charge when prices below 7.5 pence (or 5 if you are on the old tariff) you don't need to set a schedule as it will automatically charge from 12.30am to 4.30am.

Perhaps it is a tracker in the case of theft and if so who is doing the tracking ?

Never having had a theft tracker in a car I wouldn't know what they looked like though.

Hi Wiggy, glad everything is good for you.
I had to use back up key in my 5 LR yesterday, after everything died, didn’t know the spare key was in my partners bag in car, trying to lock the car, it wouldn’t then trying everything just dead, phoned AA break down, which was very good, after putting key in larger cup holder BACK UP KEY it started and everything was good, but taking out of cup holder it would not lock, finally after AA man disconnected battery terminal and replaced it,
Everything great. He Said it had brain fog 😄 reboot as you have to a phone

Thought we'd give it a run out!
Crafty camp, everything fitted in the car!
115miles travelled 113 left at 49%
65mph on 70mph roads
ACC set at 65 or 60 depending on the road.
Normal mode and KERS 3

After having a Vauxhall e-corsa this is a breath of fresh air with the battery % being displayed and a pretty accurate GOM!

Just need to see if the big Karsten tent will fit!
