My MG5 LR is getting its 2nd service today. The mileage is just over 29k. Cost is £194, and it is booked in for 2 hours.

Using Fraser's of Falkirk so walked up to the wheel for a bite to eat and to enjoy the view

My software updates took about 2 hours - although they did pop along to the local CPS Rapid Charger to make sure everything was good as I'd mentioned the occasional incompatability.

And I had to post their CPS card back as it was left in the car - oops 🤭

My service did not go well.

Please see attached photos. This is the pollen filter after it has been changed. And the brake fluid was due to be changed too so, prior to the service, I had placed simple electrical tape that joined the cap to the reservoir. It was still in position after the service was complete.

So basically I paid for a service and didn't actually get one. On me pointing out the issues they reviewed the cameras in the service garage. They agreed that the work has not been done.

I have negotiated to get the car in to be serviced properly as per the schedule, and have negotiated a free service as compensation.

I have understandably lost some faith in Fraser's of Falkirk.

That’s dreadful.

I would report this to MG uk without delay I agree with Buchanty above dreadful and as for any updating no way if you can tell if they even went into that side of things

I am in 2 minds about what is best to do. I have agreed a free service, and to get the car back in to do the work properly. It seems fair compensation to me.

But you have all been warned.... Worth doing some simple checks to make sure your service is being done properly.

Can I ask did you pay for this terrible service if so you want a refund otherwise you are not getting a free compensation service your just getting what you paid for £194.
Also can you tell me where the pollen filter is and how can anyone check it
Thank you
Les

The pollen filter is behind the glove box. If you use YouTube there are videos showing how to access it. Basically all you need is a long flat head screwdriver and some brute force to get the glovebox out of the way. The filter is then very straightforward to remove as the cover is only held in place by a couple of simple clips.

And so they dam well should and thank you for your reply about the filter.

Your welcome.

Lots of dealers guilty about cutting corners. Pollen filters are one that are often ticked but not actually done.

Not many people would do what I did today and check the work was done. And would be blissfully unaware.

To be fair this could be a "one off" by a rogue mechanic, but if a pattern emerges.....
P45 if he was working me terrible, and I wonder if weedavemac hadn’t spotted this, and the brake fluid did deteriorate badly over the next 12 months, what he outcome could be
I know its unlikely as many vehicles never get the fluid change for years some times, but somewhere along the line it’s been recommended that 2years is the right interval to have it done.
