It is not just MG that have problems. Sister in Laws family ordered a Landrover 12 months ago. Paid a deposit and selected lots of options. Got a call last week to say that it had arrived, but unfortunately the price has gone up £6K. They told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine and demanded deposit back. Now the dealer has a very bespoke Landrover to try and sell.

To be fair, nobody is being forced to pay £37k..... Someone may choose to pay that amount. Their money, their choice.
This issue with the chips and everything else, isn’t going to last forever, cars are going to start to come though, are you then going to pay £37k for a second hand car? The other thing is at £37k there are maybe better EV cars out there for around that price, even more so when the sunroof goes…

It’s the availability driving the price. Agree, lining this up against say the Niro EV I imagine you’d pick the latter. It’s a case of pay the surplus and get it now.

I can see what is coming next - the dealers could tell the customers that MG UK have cancelled the orders (we would never know), then when the car arrives they could hold an auction - start at list price then let us outbid ourselves.
Dealers who try and sell for £37K should be avoided and never trusted.

I ordered in Jan a pre-ordered car so practically November. Basically they said that the dealer does not get any updates from mg and the chances they will have the cars on September are slim...

I was thinking about this today - as I’ve mentioned before, when I ordered my car through Vanarama I was told that if I paid a couple of £ more a month, I would have one of the ‘already pre-ordered’ cars. If I wanted to pay less, it would be a factory order car with up to 12 month wait.

So I’m wondering when Vanarama placed their initial order? Does anyone know? Next time they get in touch I will ask them. Surely it must have been sometime in November ‘21. It just seems really poor that they haven’t even had a couple of cars trickling through by now, as it’s probably approaching 8 months since they ordered!

I ordered mine mid november and they never mentioned pre order to me but did promise maximum of 20 weeks for delivery, still waiting on it and the usual 1st of September deadline

Seems to be the sales pitch with some of these. For mine they said "if you put in deposit today I should be able to get you one as we go these just waiting on delivery, or you can order new one for October delivery". I'm like for £500 deposit fine, sure ok. Still waiting to see what happens. Now seeing the price of these going up, this means it doesn't constitute value for money for me, and since I got to wait might as well looks at other brands, all in the same boat.

Worth calling Greenhous Fleet directly and finding out

Worth calling Greenhous Fleet directly and finding out
Yes, it is but Greenhous Fleet placed my order in November but MG says the order was placed in January. Greenhous Fleet seams a large organisation and have direct fleet ties to MG, so puzzled they aren't getting cars in.
When I queried the discrepancy MG just sent back the standard email and didn't bother answering why there was a 2 month difference. What's worrying is over that time the Government grant was pulled. Hopefully someone will get there act together soon☹️

exactly the same as me!

Hey guys,

An update, ordered my car mid Feb. Called the dealer about a month ago for an update and got told September (as I think everyone). A few days back got a call from my dealer saying the car is in the country and will be ready in a few days. Picked up yesterday. He said the car was showing TBA and then just showed up assigned to me. They got 9 of them all allocated, though they still have orders unfulfilled from last year. As to how do they allocate the car he had no clue, but we'll, not complaining. Ordered from Glyn Hopkin MK. LR Trophy.

Now as shouting “abracadabra“ didn’t work, I popped up to the dealership, stood in the car park and pulled out my wand and waved it about, to see if that worked, no car appeared but a woman did let out a scream, so I put it back in my pocket and went home…stop making up your own jokes..
This morning did a rain dance in underwear in back garden hey ho its pouring down. Drove to same dealer as DrJohnny and said 'Iizzy Wizzy lets get Busy' before entering and status changed from TBA to car is built expected at dealers 17th September.
Maybe DrJohnny needs a refresher with magic circle

I'm glad for you. I'll look out for a Red MG (I live in Grange Park, Northampton) I ordered mine (MG ZS EV SE - Blue) Jan 10 from JustEv's Cheltenham - hopefully not long now....
