    MG4 Range

The most important thing about miles/kwh is not cost, it’s range. The clue is in the title of this thread.

So not a winter average then? I still don't understand how you've worked out your average. What you get on one journey isn't your average. Are you resetting your accumulated trip meter to see what you're getting over a set period?

What's the context for those figures? Short journeys, long journeys? Speeds driven at? Roads driven on? Heating on or off? How did you measure your average? Over what distance?

My latest monthly efficiency for February for those following it. 3.3 is really good for winter, testament to the milder conditions we've been having (down south at least). Average monthly efficiency so far has been May 3.8; June 3.9; July 3.6; August 3.7; September 3.7; October 3.5; November...

My latest monthly efficiency for January for those following it. First time I've dropped below 3. Average monthly efficiency so far has been May 3.8; June 3.9; July 3.6; August 3.7; September 3.7; October 3.5; November 3.1; December 3.1. As usual, all driving is to speed limits, mixed local...

    Charging across Europe

I’d love to agree with you but it’s more to do with the make-up of French electricity, how the energy system is owned and run and how the French government has subsidised electricity costs since the invasion of Ukraine.

It's been a fairly mild November so that's helped. I expect it to be lower in December-January, but first impressions in the really cold weather of the last few days are that efficiency is holding up reasonably well. Here's my average for December. Still getting 3.1 miles/kWh average. The mild...

My latest monthly efficiency for those following it. Average monthly efficiency so far has been May 3.8; June 3.9; July 3.6; August 3.7; September 3.7; October 3.5. November 3.1. Good to be still averaging more than 3 and getting close to 190 miles.

Following on from my previous monthly posts, here's my efficiency for October. This was anything but a routine month as I've been in the south of France for the whole of October. So, roughly 2,000 of those miles were motorway and temperatures were warmer than the UK. The two factors probably...

I bought it here Vehicle to Load Cables Not sure about those cheap EBay adapters. I’d rather buy from a trusted source, having dropped £32k on the car. I use it regularly to boil a kettle on my travels. Also used it to run camping electrics including a grill plate.

Long story. Been driving EVs for seven years. First EV was a Nissan Leaf 30kWh. Back in 2019 I wanted an EV that could do journeys I’d traditionally done in an ICE ie down to the south of France on holiday. The Model 3 was the only car that would do it, essentially because of the supercharger...

You have to watch both videos ;). I do remember the Trophy test. He ended up taking a completely different route because of a road closure. Not a directly comparable test then, although his efficiency figures on the Trophy look about right based on my own experience.

As someone who drove a model 3 for four years, I can tell you this is simply not true. The Tesla was significantly more efficient. I’d say it could be by as much as 20% but I’ll know by April next year when I have a full year’s figures for the MG4.

Following my previous monthly posts, here's my accumulated monthly efficiency in the Trophy. Compares with 3.7 in August, 3.6 in July, 3.9 in June and 3.8 in May.

    MG4 Range

This reminds me of driving through the centre of France across the Massif Central in an EV. You might barely get 2.5 miles/kWh as you drive 150 miles up to the top of the A75 at more than 1,000 metres above sea level. You can easily get more than 5 miles/kWh on the next 150 miles down to the...

    MG4 Range

I think it factors in your most recent driving efficiency rather than any average. It's not sophisticated enough to be accurate. It doesn't know the weather, it doesn't know whether you're pootling around locally or heading off on a 400-mile drive up the motorway, it doesn't know whether you're...

    MG4 Range

Sounds perfectly normal. The range display is not called a guessometer for nothing. On that basis it would show 270 miles at 100%. You can use your efficiency in miles/kWh to check the actual capacity of the battery. For example, if on a journey you get 3.7 miles/kWh, that's a range of about 228...

    MG4 Range

I'd say your range is spot on for motorway driving. People claiming large ranges are probably not doing much motorway driving or they are driving below the speed limit. It won't take much to knock your efficiency back. I did 50 motorway miles today between 6.30am and 7.30am when the temperature...

    MG4 Range

Giving out range figures even with the model stated is not actually that helpful on its own. I can achieve the equivalent of 360 miles on a four-mile trip in my Trophy to my local Tesco, which is slightly downhill at 30mph. Obviously I don't get that on the way back. To fully explain your range...
