    Charging Issues

Update on post #17 - New CCU fitted on Thursday, at the same time as my first annual service (cost £67). The car now charges again perfectly on AC, it was charged today to 80% all from solar energy...........result!

    Charging Issues

Update on this, and yes it is going to have to be a new CCU. The dealership does not yet know when the job can be done, but at least for the now, the car charges ok on the local Shell 175kW chargers (even though it is very expensive )

    Ahhh good bye winter!!

The biggest problem with the "tractor factor" is all the mud they throw up off their wheels at this time of year which then land on a nicely cleaned car. Guess who has just taken the dog to Chapel Carn Brae (Crows an Wra) in a newly cleaned car and has had mud splattered all over it by three...

    Charging Issues

@Rolfe you may be correct, but I am not sure at this time. Hopefully I will know better after the car has been in the workshop tomorrow. I have read most of the "Zappi" thread and there certainly seems to be similarities which may come down to the CCU. However, as that thread mentions Zappi's...

    Charging Issues

My MG4 has just started having this problem in the last couple of months. Charging with DC (expensive) public chargers is fine, but using my home (7kW) charger or the granny lead, both stop charging a few minutes after being connected. They connect fine and start charging, but then switch off...

    Scheduled Charge Failed to Charge.

Update: The car charged perfectly on a Shell Recharge unit, so that's good. As we have some sunshine on the solar panels here at home at the moment, I will plug the car into the granny charger to see if it will charge for longer than 10 mins.

    Scheduled Charge Failed to Charge.

I have recently experienced the scheduled charging (wall charger) not working on my MG4, after it had been working fine since getting the car last May. If I set the scheduled charging in the app, or in the car, it seems to switch on ok for perhaps ten minutes then switches itself off again...

    Sudden automatic braking issue

No, sorry I do not know what the software update was, but as the version numbers shown on the infotainment did not change, the update must have been for one of the buried components. The car went in to have the front passenger door window winding gear sorted, because the motor had locked itself...

    Sudden automatic braking issue

I have had the AEB come on once, but in the car's defence, there was a double decker bus on my side of the road which was overtaking some parked traffic. However, the emergency braking caught me by surprise, as I was still rolling forward at 15 to 20 mph and was brought to an abrupt standstill...

    Driving to Cornwall

You should easily be able to go from home to Exeter along the A303 (which will help keep your top speed down 😜) and the bank of chargers at Exeter are great……or Salmons Leap suggested by @tsedge

    MG4 Software Update Thread

Well it definitely was active at the same sort of speeds on the very same lanes before the software update. When I first bought the car and before I learned to switch off the LKA, in the first week on four occasions it very violently tried to steer into the bank, plus numerous other twitches...

Up to 45 mph in places I guess, but often a lot less, especially where they are narrower.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

Update on posting #2608 above, I am falling in love with Mungo all over again. Since the software update I have purposely driven down several lanes that previously the LKA would always have attempted to drive me into the Cornish hedges, but now absolutely no hint of any adverse input from the...

    Solar with battery, loving it!

In our case, the Tesla home battery is bolted on the outside of the back wall of the house. We put it there as it is north facing (no direct sunlight during the summer), the operational LEDs and hum disturb no-one and the cable run to the electricity meter is short. If the battery did catch...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

My car had to go into the dealer's workshop on Monday to have the front passenger door window motor reset as it had locked itself (thankfully with the window up), and I was told that the car would have a software update at the same time. When I picked it up later that day, again the...

    Goth Leo in the snow

Was the car in snow mode or did you leave it in normal? We rarely get snow here (west Cornwall), but in January this year we has a few inches of the 'white stuff' followed by several days of -5 to -7 degrees and I was very impressed with the car in snow mode while it was on the ground (and...

Other car forums and EVs. 🤣

I am a long time member of an online motorhome owners club (yes my MH is an ICE unfortunately) and one of the members started an "EV appreciation" thread because many of the members also have EVs for their daily transport. As you can probably guess, that proved to be an immediate 'call to...

    First road trip tomorrow

Enjoy it, we did a 500 mile round trip on the annual "Santa Run' last weekend and I thought the car behaved faultlessly! 😁
