Fitting aftermarket Wireless Charger + Android Auto / Apple CarPlay in MG4 Standard

The fusebox is not readily accessible. I couldn’t tell for sure where it’s located in RHD vehicles, but in LHD cars, it’s on the driver side (left side). You’ll need to open the door and remove the side cover. You will need a panel removal tool.

    Driving with one pedal

I have an SE model with a 51kW LFP battery. The one-pedal mode is a bit frustrating. Not only I can’t activate OPM when the battery SoC exceeds 80%, but below 10/15°C, it won’t engage either until the battery is warm. I can mitigate this issue by using the battery pre-heating option, but this...

    MG4 vs Tesla Model 3

@SteveHOBART Concerning resale value, I fear that all electric vehicles are affected to some extent. Tesla faces more than others due to Musk's speculation on his own products. However, in general, electric vehicle prices are dwindling. New technologies, such as LFP batteries, are maturing, and...

    MG4 vs Tesla Model 3

The interior of the model 3 is actually quite decent (and actually better than a Citroen Berlingo). The first models from Freemont faced big quality issues - but it has been sorted out. My shangai-made MY’23 Model 3 boasts a much more refined interior than the MG4. And they’ve enhanced even...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

With R33, we now have a mature version at hand. Transitioning from R26, I found myself quite annoyed by the numerous minor bugs and discrepancies in the user interface. R33 brings a much more refined experience. @Rolfe Go for it!!!

    MG4 Software Update Thread

@Ian Key Yes, that’s how I got wifey’s car updated to 1100R33: I complained about the bugs. (Namely the exterior temperature display not working).

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I think your dealer told you fibs! If the infotainment display says 1100R13, it hasn’t been updated. Period I’ll take a picture of my screen updated to R33 tonight so you’ll be able to check the revision numbers.

No, I had to bring the car to the dealer and I told him I knew about R33. I also mentioned that I was experiencing bugs (specifically the exterior temperature display not working). It seems that most dealers are reluctant to perform updates, as it is time consuming. By the way, they didn’t...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I had the same exact version, and I was able to get the epic R33 update earlier this month, so there is no doubt your car can be upgraded.

    MG4 vs Tesla Model 3

Yes both have an excellent ride quality. I also find the MG4 to be more spirited, you can feel the wheels spinning a bit before the ESP comes into action if you’re a wee bit enthusiastic, there is this hot hatch feeling. On the other side, the model 3 really shines on the motorway, the...

    MG4 vs Tesla Model 3

@tsedge You’ve highlighted an important aspect: Teslas are built and designed for geeks. Not necessarily for the average consumer. If you settle with their perspectives, sometimes taken to the extreme, if you’re ready to understand how it works, you will have a car with amazing features, but...

    MG4 vs Tesla Model 3

@tsedge I wouldn't say Tesla has a poor range of cars. Tesla is not a luxury or premium brand; it's a technological company. Teslas are designed with cost savings in mind. Teslas are more economical to manufacture and that, to the customer, means fewer buttons and sensors, but this is often...

    MG4 vs Tesla Model 3

Hello! I have both of them in my driveway! (A RWD model 3 and a 51kWh MG4), both from 2023 The MG4 has already covered 3000 km, while the Tesla has logged 7000. I can’t really compare though, not the same price tag, not the same size, not the same range and charging speed. But believe it or...

    MG4 Secret Menu Mode...

In theory, nothing is impossible… However, in practical terms, with no documentation provided and a system designed exclusively for updates by MG, I sincerely doubt it's feasible. It’s not as straightforward as sideloading apps! It would probably require at least gaining root access (on an...

    MG4 Secret Menu Mode...

Yep, but the app would need to access GPS data, access network and probably be able to use gApps for major GPS applications such as Waze or Google maps… and you would also need an alternate launcher. The infotainment system is running on android but is by no means a phone or a tablet. It’s...

    MG4 Secret Menu Mode...

Hello I‘ve delved deeper into the SE engineering menu (still on R21 here). While in the USB Update menu, I tapped on the right “Update USB”, revealing another sub-menu, in chinese! My proficiency in Chinese is limited to some mispronounced greetings, but luckily Apple Translate proved...
