MG ZS EV Owner shame on you

There will always be idiots around. The solution is of course to have enough charging points for everyone. Happened to me this summer, had to cut short a trip because of it.

    Price of Marvel revealed

Yes, Iceland is expensive, but so is Norway so when the prices in Norway were revealed we believed there was reason for optimism. However, the greed of Icelandic merchants can always be counted on. To top it off, only the most expensive version will be available in this country. Talk about...

    Price of Marvel revealed

Just received news of the price of MG Marvel in Iceland. 40.000 pounds. Sad news. Was hoping they would continue their push with decent cars at a very reasonable price. For this price a range of other brands become very appealing.

    Rattling sound solved

The annoying rattle from somewhere in front of the steering wheel in my MG ZS is coming from the roof part above the center of the gauge section. I found that when I pressed two fingers against the roof section above the transparent plastic covering the gauges, the rattling stopped. Have an...

MG EVs Podcast Monday 15th March 2021 @ 7:30pm UTC

Will check on the trim area around the mirror and sunroof knob. My dealer has graciously invited me to bring the car and they would figure this out for me. The problem is that the annoying sound seems to disappear when it rains, so it really is a gamble whether they will be able to hear it when...

MG EVs Podcast Monday 15th March 2021 @ 7:30pm UTC

Faint rattling sound from area between air ventilator and front screen on car. Sounds like a few coins rattling in there. This is not the A pillar noise that someone mentioned which could be eliminated by pressing against the speaker on the A pillar. Any ideas ?

    Towbar on MG ZS EV

Precisely, just the point I made at the start. If the ICE version is sturdy enough, then surely the EV is also. Nobody is going for long hauls with this size of battery.

    Towbar on MG ZS EV

As far as I can see it is not recommended by the dealers to attach a towbar to the MG ZS EV. However, the reason for this remains a puzzle for me. I know that range will be reduced and also that excessive loads are questionable. Still the same, for owners like me who would like to be able to...

Legal LEDs for MG ZS EV

Came across a video from a Norwegian guy who claims this set of LEDs is recommended by his dealer. Apparently no problems passing car inspection with those in Norway...

    Higher standards?

Hydrogen in family cars does not make sense for one reason only. Why take energy, convert it into hydrogen, to use it as an electricity source ? This causes a 40% loss of energy in the process. The straight forward way is to use the energy straight, as is. As I am from Iceland with abundant...

    Hot plug

Had the same problem with the extension cable to the granny charger. A mate (electrician) came by and replaced the extension with a more robust one. This eliminated the heat found when touching the socket. Now I hardly find any heat when touching the socket (16 amp). Still waiting for him to...

    Collision avoidance system

Happened to me the other day. I am actually rather pleased with this gadget. So many minor (and major) accidents are caused by a couple of seconds loss of attention by driver. Being guilty of such offenses I take this as a security issue, making me a safer driver as well as helping avoid idiots...

Seriously thinking of buying in next few days

The big issue is whether you drive more than 250 km per day. If not, this is a no-brainer. I charge my car twice a week on my granny charger and smile as I pass the petrol stations. As mentioned above, it is a great feeling to pay close to nothing for "fuel". Not to mention all the expenses on...

    Cold weather and internal heating

If you normally drive in Eco mode, then be aware that the car automatically switches to Normal mode after you start it again. This takes off some miles. To get a correct measurement you have to switch to Eco again and then you see how much electricity it has lost during the night.

    Preheating the MG ZS EV

Yes, about two metres from the garage. This morning there was frost again and it was covered in ice. The difference was that I was not charging last night.

    Preheating the MG ZS EV

This icy morning, after charging my MG on a granny cable overnight, I found that the MG was totally ice-free, whereas my Skoda was covered in ice. Lo and behold, it looks like the charging procedure itself creates some heat, thus keeping the car ice-free. Anyone else experience this ?

Hi! Bought a Salvage Damaged ZS EV! Workshop manual anyone?

So just to be on the safe side. If I had an accident with airbags popping and the car needing painting, the insurance company would "have to" buy the car from me, since I wouldn´t want it back after losing the warranty ?

Hi! Bought a Salvage Damaged ZS EV! Workshop manual anyone?

Hi All, just heard about a case here involving a Leaf that had a minor accident, causing a bump to the side, which resulted in the airbags popping out. The guy who bought this car found that the battery had deteriorated to 75%. When he started asking around, both the dealership and the insurance...
