MG5 EV Range is Very Exaggerated

Hi Dean I have done nearly 5000 miles in my short range MG5 and have achieved an average of 4 miles per kwh. This was a 50/50 mix of driving but warmer conditions than we are seeing right now. I usually stay around 65mph on motorways. I have found the stated range to be pretty accurate so far...

    Week in Devon

Was there no way to charge at the caravan, I have a caravan and regularly charge from it using the granny charger. A few hours here and there on the granny when you are not using the car can make all the difference.

    Charging Routine

I only have the granny charger and a 7kw charger at work. Generally I run it down to below 50% and then stick it on at work for a couple of hours. I only top to 100% if I know I have a long journey ahead of me or a few 40+ mile journeys a few days. I quite like the granny charger and find it as...

MG EVs Podcast Monday 12 July 2021 @ 7:30pm BST

I have to say I share your thoughts on the residual value of my MG 5, unless the nice people at Chorley offer a decent part ex against the new model. We will see I guess.

    Local meets

We now have over 1700 members, would anyone be interested in having local meetings for breakfasts or a coffee at nice places and compare experiences, modifications and just be nerdy about our cars. Regional forums could be set up where meetings could be arranged. We used to do this on the Rover...

What do you value most in your EV?

Having not driven the MG ZS it is very difficult to say. I chose the 5 due to its extra range and to be honest I was a bit fed up with the SUV market all looking the same. I find the 5 very smooth and comfortable so the MG ZS would have to match that. I will certainly be taking a test drive in...

    Pick up in 2 days

Welcome to the future Rupert, I have had mine since March. I have been driving for over 40 years and in that time I have had some nice cars but I can honestly say that this is the best driving experience of my life. I hope you enjoy it as I have done.

Travel using rapid chargers is dearer than using a diesel?

MG 5 I have just worked out the cost of travelling to my daughters in Harlow and back. Travelling down is 160 miles / 3.5mpk = 46 kwh use * .15pence (home charge) =£6.85 Travelling home is 160 miles / 3.5mpk = 46 kwh use * .25pence (rapid charge ) =£11.50 Total cost = £18.35 Seat Ateca 1.4 320...

Travel using rapid chargers is dearer than using a diesel?

The only ones I have seen at that price are Ionity and they seem to be part of a consortium involving the big car manufacturers. You get a discount if you buy one of their cars I believe. When looking on Zapp map most seem to be in the 25pence to 35 pence bracket.

182 miles as a pickup journey without charging?

I picked mine up last Friday evening. Driving 98 miles home in the dark, lights and heater on all the way home, 65mph on mostly motorway. I got home with 100+ miles left on the display. I was very impressed. The temp was 8 degrees. The car was at 97% charged when I picked it up. I think you...

    Auto hold function

Having not had a test drive I was a bit concerned that it would not be as I imagined, I had no need to worry as it far exceeded my expectations. The comfort and smoothness is better than I have had in luxury cars likes Mercs and the XF Jags. The initial power when you put your foot down makes me...

    Auto hold function

Mine does not remember, I have to set it to on if I want to use it. How are you finding the car, is it what you thought?

    Auto hold function

Yes I have it working now but I do agree with you that it is a bit abrupt when setting off again, I doubt I will be using it much.
