Only found this thread today - my dealer mentioned that the update wasn’t confirmed by MG to fix the Tesla charging issue, but I’ve got my pre-FL LR booked in for early June anyway. Just in time for summer holiday driving.

I’ve never really bothered again - just use ABetterRoutePlanner or GoogleMaps through Apple CarPlay

Looks like Instavolt have opened some new chargers at a holiday park just outside Conwy - a very good alternative to the temperamental PodPoint unit at Lidl

They're sitting here in a box - looks like you have to undo the bonnet hinge to attach one end - haven't got around to doing it yet

Is it specifically the facelift model? Doesn't say either way but given the non-facelift wan't in Europe, makes sense that it might be - and do the two models differ under the bonnet? It is prettier than the one above though - looks like a smaller main section but definitely better looking...

Yeah - this is the one I posted above. A little over £150 delivered with the summer10 code.

I ordered one earlier - not sure why - but works out just under £30. Be interesting to see how it works as I suspect MG5 bonnet is heavier than the MG4. No doubt I’ll end up justifying that 70 litre frunk too 🤷‍♂️

Not sure they’d raise the bonnet - saw this video of the MG4 versions and they definitely assist but not raise on their own. They do fully support though.

Did it to my Grand CMax - but it was an accessory kit (part of the Family Pack along with tinted windows) so had instructions for torque settings, etc. Suspect the body of all MG5 cars have the holes in place? Can’t say I’ve ever looked at an Excite model though 🤷‍♂️ Again, the Ford was easy...

They sort of are - but traffic jam assist will do low speed following of the car in front, obviously when in traffic. ACC is the same technology but for more general driving. It’s possible they use different criteria and/or software setting but same ACC radar. At least that’s my experience of them.

I installed a wifi timer for my 210 litre hot water tank - immersion is set to 60oC for safety reasons. It uses between 6 and 9kWh each night offpeak The gas boiler is quicker, but think I’ve set it to around 50oC but have the Thermal Disinfection mode (high temp to kill bacteria) turned on...

UK spec MGs are single phase only - or at least they’re meant to be. European models may have 11kW three phase.

I’ve (maybe) got a three phase feed - well, certainly got three cables each going to it’s own fuse - but only one fuse connected to meter. Considered trying to get a three phase meter but can’t see any need 🤷‍♂️

Not sure what you currently have, or what appliances you’re running at same time as charging car - but do you need a 100A fuse? I’ve got an 80A and never seen my Hypervolt throttle back - less chance now I’ve removed the electric shower too

I had a subscription for a few months when travelling for holidays - I did see stops being changed dynamically but can’t honestly say it impacted my planned route/stops but I guess that’s due to using ABRP to plan stops before I left. I do like seeing it show the current and destination SOC...

The part number for the official MG bars (Mont Blanc brand?) is the same for the MG5 and ZS EV. So, if looking for alternatives you can filter on ZS if MG5 not listed.

I’ve had the opposite height issue/advantage coming from a Ford Grand CMax - the MG5 is much lower so can get into some car parks - but yeah, 1.9m will be tight depending on your set up.

Given the different battery chemistry between the SR and LR - with the SR ‘liking’ 100% and the LR preferring 80% charge - I suspect with the exception of those who do regular long journeys, the SR would be a better choice for many - especially those who use solar or off peak charge nightly...
