At the weekend I managed to hit a wooden fence when my brain was somewhere else - probably away with the fairies! I have managed to crack a couple of those plastic silver bars on the false grill of my MG5!
I know if I go to my dealers they will want an arm and a leg to do any repair, probably...
We have to visit relatives in Faringdon, near Oxford next week-end and will need to get some free electrons from somewhere, as well as taking in a few of ‘the sights’! Last time we visited Oxford I drove a Skoda so no problem thinking about where to ‘fill up‘!
A bit of research uncovers the...
I got this one from Screwfix ……….
MASTERPLUG 13A 1-GANG UNSWITCHED EXTENSION LEAD 10M (44635)
Its £17.64 at the moment. Very good buy. Never use an ordinary extension, this one is heavy-duty. Lots of EV owners have bought it from my extensive reading about the subject.
Apart from a few free charges at supermarkets, I have been using the granny for the last nine months. I was originally going to use money saved up to install a home charger but a few hefty dental bills due to moving and unable to get an NHS one and a hefty private operation to pay for in the...
£1 a gallon! When I got my first car in 1972, petrol was 37.5p per gallon! That’s about 8.5p a litre! I would generally put a one pound note worth of fuel in my MG Midget!
Spotted this MG5 being used as an emergency vehicle/ambulance on the Flickr site. Personally not seen one myself but wonder if the use of EVs in public service is becoming more widespread?
I’ve had courtesy cars offered over the years ranging from ‘free’ at Skoda to ‘£20’ at Mercedes! At the Mercedes, I decided to take a walk first, then came back to finish my wait with a good book!
Thanks mate! We often stay at the Travelodge at Excel but no charger as upset! Might try Novotel next time as I believe they have one although it is not on Zap-Map yet. Quite a few chargers missing off it, I find.
Do you mind telling me where you stayed at in London that had a charger available? We usually stay near Excel and take the DLR in but now we’ve got an EV the hotel having a charger is important. The only hotel in the Excel area with charging is the Hampton by Hilton but that’s a little pricey...
I read a lot recently about ceramic coating and many experts reckon that it is a rip-off! But then you will get some who say that you should go for it. I personally think that it is a waste of money. Just keep the car cleaned, properly waxed and polished and it will stay almost like new.
Battery health? Warm before you start charging? What is this?
Plug it in! Get some leccy juice to power it up.
Take the plug out.
Get in. Put it in drive. Off you go.
Not many miles left on guessometer on your dashboard?
Repeat the process.
Easy as pie!
And don’t forget the essentials for the driver if you are waiting long-time for the breakdown services! I suggest a few packets of crisps and maybe a couple of cans of soft drink.
If I was you, I’d visit a good Auto Electrics place as they might be able to give you some advice and maybe a solution to your question.
I’ve been thinking about having some front parking sensors fitted to my MG5, a feature that I am used to, having had them on my last few cars. My MG dealers...
Hi there Alan! A very warm welcome to you, welcome to the forum!
We are all quite tolerant on here so don’t hesitate to ask any question, no matter how trivial or maybe stupid it seems - one of us will probably have had the same question in our early days as well! Are you also new to...
Actually my first car was an MG Midget and unfortunately it was also a rust bucket. The sills all over the car were rusting away gradually and sometimes not so gradually! The soft top was ripped when left outside a young peoples centre that I worked evenings at. The sides were cut and pulled...
A brand new KFC is opening on London Road in Retford, Nottinghamshire which will evidently have a charge point! Good news for the area. It’s close to the Lidl that already has a few charging points.
More news later when I know a little more.
