    MG4 or Megane E Tech

I tested the new Niro EV which was fine and thought the styling wasn't very distinctive (nice?) apart from the C pillar contrast colouring which they seem to have added to bling it up a bit. Yes I know they make a big deal out of bleeding air under it to extend range, not convinced. But the deal...

    MG4 or Megane E Tech

Just a point on stale fuel.... my Tucson PHEV is 1 year old and 2500 miles without any stale fuel problems and still running on its original fill and several hundred and something equivalent mpg. You have to wonder in what circumstances anyone would change it for a full EV unless you fall for...

    MG4 or Megane E Tech

I had my first look at the MG4 today and it was disappointing. I viewed a Trophy and the SE. Externally, apart from the front and Trophy rear lights, it was a bit boring. Internally it looked down market and kind of matched its low'ish price. Could I enjoy the dash layout etc everyday, I would...

Why I cancelled my BV SE order

My experience with BMW and Audi is similar. I had multiple versions of them while being hooked on their brands until I quit them for good. Subsequently I've been more than happy with Hyundai and Honda and like the look, spec, tests and prices of the MG4 but will wait a while to see how MG fares.

MG4 - First UK dealer hands on photos and specifications

Agreed, just like a my Hyundai Tucson with a hidden wiper. I test drove an Ionig 5 in the rain which doesn't have a rear wiper and said no way to SUV type rear bodywork which dumps spray onto the rear window which you can't clear with a wiper on the move.

MG5 System Fault - HV Battery Shut Off

Thanks Maciej. I've nearly got it. I had assumed that if you left it charging at home overnight for 100% then charging wouldn't stop until the charge was at 100%, presumably for all cells, ready for full range in the morning. I only charged at home overnight and haven't any experience of on the...

Manufacturers love to change the spec after you've ordered. It happened to me with Mercedes without notifying me. Tesla is notorious for making changes on the run on the production line I hear, but the waiting is so long and buyers are so keen to get the latest spec from Elon it works for Tesla...

    Byd Atto 3

The dealer was in New Zealand and if UK dealers are as good that would be good. I notice that the car was right hand drive so what you see is what it will look like. Unlike the RH drive E Megane which has a different and smaller infotainment screen for RH drive UK cars. Life keeps getting more...

    MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Yee Gods!!!! Reading the posts makes you wish for the 'old days' when cars were made locally ie UK and mainland Europe. The result is as the posts show. We are still chasing cheaper products at the expense of our industries and mental health. I'm just as guilty but I'm sticking with my Hyundai...

No Rush For the Renault E Megane?

Considering the interest in the new MG4, at least on this forum, eg people following the progress of ships bringing the MGs to the UK on their shipping app, it's strange that a quick search for similar forum activity for the new Renault E Megane drew a blank. It is also supposed to be hitting...

Charging to 100 % on 7 kW home charger.

Exactly! There's more to EVs than meets the eye. Battery types and their pros and cons should be more widely known. It's kind of like the old diesel v petrol situation with ICE cars, pros and cons eg mpg, performance, pollution, price per litre etc but over time most people were able to make...

Charging to 100 % on 7 kW home charger.

Yes Smokie, there's a lot of people looking at battery degradation through rose tinted glasses. It's a fact, like it or not, that LC (Lithium/Cobalt) batteries do degrade and degrade faster if eg they are charged regularly up to 100%. The worlds major Chinese battery makers like CATL are...

MG4 - First UK dealer hands on photos and specifications

Yes, the situation in Manchester is a bit of a mess and that's not only the air quality. The costs of entering the proposed clean air zone was going to be high, up to £60 or so if you were driving a truck, or so I hear. It's no surprise that it seems to have been delayed or maybe changed to an...

MG4 - First UK dealer hands on photos and specifications

I'd just like to add that the advantage of an EV, if you live in a traffic clogged city, is that they do not add to the toxic exhausts produced by ICE cars which has to be better for the health of city dwellers and their kids. Yes, there'd have to be a heck of a lot more EVs replacing ICE cars...

You need to think carefully also about the BYD guarantee which might seem long but I understand from the Electric Viking that they have quite a list of items which aren't guaranteed. No, servicing costs for electric cars should be lower than petrol/diesel versions. I'm thinking that maybe BYD...

Actually Harry this side of the Atlantic we say maths to cover a calculation and the subject of mathematics. Math is commonly used in the USA and Canada probably for both calc and subject. Let's continue with maths, vive la difference! 😁
