I just took at look at the comma python code required to support a car brand. This seems more like a reverse engineering problem, not just python knowledge. You need to figure a whole lot of CAN bus messages for the various modules (camera, radar, steering, etc.) to control the car. And since...
My Carlinkit 5.0 is running version 2024.01.18.1053, which is the latest available right now.
I'm also using the included cable (Type A). A black screen that goes away by itself doesn't sound like a cable problem, and more like a software issue. Whether it's the software on the MG, the...
I get that, but I'm not even comparing it to the long factory antenna, but to my little aftermarket stub antenna, which is already significantly worse. Since it apparently can't even match that, I cannot recommend it at all.
I tried to install my Supershark yesterday, but my DAB reception basically died when I connected it.
A bit disappointing since everybody said the reception was fine for them.
I guess I'll stick with the short stick antenna that I had before.
Switching out the lenses (if that is even possible) will not get you anything. You would have to replace the entire camera sensor module, since the sensor is what determines the resolution. I sincerely doubt that the MG4 camera modules would fit in the ZS EV (both mechanically or electrically)...
The AliExpress page gives the total height of this shark fin as 61mm. When I measure the height of the antenna base on my car, it is closer to 70mm. I can't imagine that that would fit.
Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on the Carlinkit. I've had some random hangups with the initial firmware that have all disappeared with the latest updates.
Since MG has both Android Auto and CarPlay, the Carlinkit 5.0 (aka 2Air) is currently the best choice out of the Carlinkit lineup. The 4.0 does both as well, but routes Android Auto through CarPlay, which works, but is less than ideal.
I switched from 4.0 to 5.0 some months back, and it's been...
Just be aware that the USB port will turn on and off with the ignition. It's nice if you only want to use the camera for driving, but not if you want parking monitoring as well.
I'm quite happy with my Viofo A129 Plus Duo. 2K 60fps in front and 1080p 30fps in back is a good compromise between...
The easiest way to tell what charger you have is to look at the pins on the car's (upper) connector.
If there are two pins missing, you have a single phase charger, and a 7kW (32A 1 phase) cable will do (unless you plan to use it for other EVs as well).
If you have all seven pins populated...
Different than what? As far as I know, all MG models use the same V2L cable.
@Anything or @Me Me Me
Has any of you heard back from your respective dealers yet?
I couldn't get a service appointment before July, so I haven't been to mine yet.
Interesting, I didn't know that. However, given MG's past when it comes to software, I wouldn't hold my breath for that to be available anytime soon, if ever.
Why would you need an update for CarPlay? CarPlay is only responsible for displaying your phone apps on the car screen. The apps still run on the phone and get updated there.
The AU/NZ version has Google Maps built in? Doesn't that require a permanent data connection? How much data does the built-in SIM have each month?
Over here in Europe, I had to install 13 gigs of offline maps from a USB stick to get maps that are "only" a year old.
I just found out that on the german website, V2L is now only offered on the bigger battery, and on the UK site, V2L is not mentioned at all anymore. I wonder if MG already left out the inverter in cars built early this year. If they did, we're going to have problem, because I ordered a car with...
(Slightly Off Topic) Personally, I think that cheaper home batteries (in particular solid state and non-Lithium chemistries) are going to come sooner and will have a bigger impact than V2G-capable cars will.
As far as I know, the inverter currently built into the car is not capable of syncing up to the grid. So it's not going to happen until the Mk3, and even then there is no guarantee.
So, all cars that exhibit the problem of not recognizing the discharge cable were delivered this year (and therefore probably built late last year). A hardware issue seems more and more likely. I guess we'll see whenever somebody gets a chance to try the original MG cable.
I guess it is also...
