    Campervans using charge points

There’s usually a time limit in the car park for parking, my local one is 4 hours.

    Campervans using charge points

While picking up groceries in Tesco and shopping in town, it’s a central town car park so good to get some free electrons and parking from VW group while supporting the local community. It’s not free anymore but still at a reduced rate and subsidised by VW Group as part of their payback for...

    Campervans using charge points

The AC charge points are 230v power supplies and it’s simple to make up a cable with a 3 pin mains socket. I was using the free podpoints at Tesco to top up my ebike battery (3.7kwh) and my 6kwh electric sail boat pack (which I also use to run my garage electrics) when topping up the car.

    Running lead over pavement?

If the trip hazard is under 2.5cm (1inch) there is no legal ground for a claim. If you use a ramp style cover make sure it is under this requirement. Best just to run a nice heavy cable as flat as possible. Check with your local council as they may have bylaws that state something different.

    Running lead over pavement?

I’ve been running my cable over a pavement for nearly 10 years with no issue, all my neighbours are ok with it, my cable is bright yellow and 10m so I can reach further if the space directly outside my rear wall is already taken. My stepson runs a cable up high so it goes overhead as he lives on...

It Looks Like Speed Assist Systems Are On The Way For NCAP - Perhaps Default On?

It is only really relevant at very low speed impacts. We could have (almost) death proof cars, this would mean complete motorsport type safety cages, harness type seatbelts, wearing of crash helmets (at least a scull cap type), neck brace, fire extinguisher system, etc etc. 34mph isn’t fast but...

It Looks Like Speed Assist Systems Are On The Way For NCAP - Perhaps Default On?

It is quite alarming how bad all cars are in a relatively slow impact. From the attached: Car Drivers The risk of injury in any collision is influenced by many factors, including the vehicle’s speed, its design, strength and occupant protection systems, whether the occupants were wearing seat...

It Looks Like Speed Assist Systems Are On The Way For NCAP - Perhaps Default On?

The NCAP is a great system to show how safe a car can be although the highest speed they use is 39mph (55kmh) and most of the tests are done at just 18-22mph! The speed limiter will have to be fitted to every new car as of April this year, it can be switched off but at the moment, you will...

Is everyday charging harmful for the battery ?

A large battery pack is carefully monitored by the battery management system and never actually charges to 100% cell voltage, the 100% is the maximum allowable storage capacity for the pack not the maximum voltage. Every charge method from slow to rapid will slow to the same slow rate towards...

    12 v battery usage

…..apart from the higher voltage traction pack that powers the motor, connected electronics and heater element all the other electrical components are 12v.

    12 v battery usage

The 12v battery is exactly the same as in an ice vehicle, it is a starter battery for starting the vehicle and to use in an emergency situation powering the necessary systems (lights, hazard lights etc). If you are parked up using the radio, lights etc they will be drawing power directly from...

Ecotricity rapid charging customer satisfaction poll - share your experiences

Not had any problems with supply or service over the years, I’ve been with them for a long time, I’ve not had to make any phone calls for some time so can’t comment on that but sort any issues out with app or by email. I like their continued stance on green issues and they are the only energy...

Ecotricity rapid charging customer satisfaction poll - share your experiences

Over 7 years of ev using both Chademo and CCS Chademo is much more stable and CCS can require several attempts to start (this i find is the case on some brands of rapid though not just Ecotricity). In my experience Ecotricity are good and are my go to if using motorways, I always get a good fast...
