I was initially going to get another pair of crossovers and wire them up in the door just for the mid drives to save routing another cable but the sound is fine how it is. I’ve done a full frequency test and is good and the rears get full range despite reports of them only being mid to low. As...
Glad it helped. The subwoofer settings muddle up the sound now the speakers can work across a lower frequency, they don’t need software enhancements to cover up the poor quality like the original ones do 🙃
Hi, check photos attached. I have the virtual sub off and loudness as they are not needed. You have to install a passive high crossover for the tweeters or they won’t work well and make sure the positive and negative terminals all match up.
The rear door speaker mounts are the same, I have the...
The stock tweeter is tapped from the main speaker feed, crossover capacitor built in to the tweeter, not sure what it’s rated at as didn’t note it down. Best to add a passive crossover and new tweeter as the stock ones are pants 🙃. I’ll check and see if I still have the originals when back home...
Not sure about an adapter but you can find the same types of connectors but will probably have to make up your own harness.
Use the Cross-over high connector unit that comes with the Vibe components and connect to the existing tweeter wiring in the dash to the input then new tweeter to the high...
The sound is much improved, much better bass notes with good punch and clarity, mids have better clarity and better control, the best upgrade though is with the tweeters: highs especially percussion and vocals really shine. The sound deadening is very important so don’t miss this out it’s well...
Why wait for MG to say it ok to use? There’s no legal issue for securing loads to a car roof, apart from making sure the load is secure and not overhanging, you can even tie stuff down straight on the roof. The roof is designed to support the weight of the car after all although I wouldn’t...
My insurance is ok with a roof rack, the wording in the small print is more about carrying an unsecured load or hazardous materials as this ‘may’ affect a claim in the event of an incident.
Glad it was helpful 🙂. Yeah the tweeter upgrade is a really big improvement, vocals and percussion (especially in jazz and classical) are up to a different level even at low volumes. The sound damping is well worth it too as vastly improves the low and mids keeping notes tight and accurate. Mine...
Sort of, there is a difference but I’ve always had a memory foam dog bed, fluffy vet rug (like a sheep skin rug) and a big 45kg hairy German Shepherd in the boot damping the sound, but yes it dose help.
Yes but in a car water creeps in from the windows and there are drain holes at the base of the door and the door card. The wool type will also be too thick and move around getting in the way of the door window mechanism and won’t help much with sound dampening. I use the closed cell foam...
As above reply it’s not a good idea to use mineral wool as it gets damp from condensation in the door void. Use closed cell foam as it’s thin so won’t interfere with the window mechanism and won’t soak up moisture. It’s also better for sound dampening
Yeah, I did a review and inc some photos 😎
Me too, always clean all round the boot and door frames too, a habit from owning classic vehicles. I don‘t spray or rinse with a hose either to avoid water getting in behind panels etc.
Personally I wouldn’t bother fitting one if it wasn’t already on mine, if the dealership offer to fit it for free and you prefer the look then may as well. I always used install sound deadening sheets on the underside of the bonnet of my ice cars and vans when doing sound system upgrades to help...
