VAT reduced to 0% on solar batteries from February 1st 2024

Batteries still require DNO approval, also the AIO you have to run atleast a 16mm² Twin from your cut out to the AIO and back as all your power runs via the AIO to provide the backup facility, so there's the cost of that involved

Have you unlocked the car as the screen goes off while charging a d only comes back on if you unlock it a d that does abort The Charge to allow you to disconnect the lead

    Solar + Zappi + MG4 = 😊

There is a distinction in the DCODE that you can't sell back energy bought at a reduced rate for a profit unless it has been used to undertake a mechanical work, or you're a registered Elexon exporter Essentially unless you've say utilised the energy like how hydro storage does to pump water...

    Solar + Zappi + MG4 = 😊

There's enough Ccgt reserve to supply the entire UK grid and have immediate ROCOF (rate of change of frequency) response which Nuclear and other generator types don't, even battery storage has issues under a ROCOF situation with changing demand as the inverters are stepped where as a turbine can...

    Solar + Zappi + MG4 = 😊

Yes if you were on the standard octopus tariff they do 15p export, my understanding is on go it's lower as they're saying you benefit from cheaper imports and could abuse the system by charging battery at night and exporting back during the day at a higher rate. That's between 16:00-19:00 which...

    Solar + Zappi + MG4 = 😊

I know someone I work with is with octopus and they get 15p per unit exported back to the grid, they don't have an EV so no octopus go, but covers their standing charge costs. As do think it's criminal the minimal amount they recompense people for generating at home

    Solar charging

It'll be a Gen2 then as Givenergy only support the 5.2 and 8 on the Gen1 inverters

    Solar charging

It'll depend on if you're adding it to an existing PV system, and if you are if your current pv system is a Gen2 givenergy inverter. As the Giv9.5 needs a givenergy Gen2 inverter

    Solar charging

So only works with an AC coupled battery, not a hybrid or DC coupled system, which is what most battery systems are that are installed at the same time as PV

    Solar charging

No if you have a solar capable charger it should work, but the DIY system proposed by the author of the thread shouldn't due to EVSE charging safety interlocks in place, such as expecting the plug to be removed from the cars type2 socket and reinserted before recommencing a handshake.

    Solar charging

You may find that the MG4 won't initiate the charge, as it doesn't expect the handshake to connect and disconnect without the CP and PP pins disconnecting, EVSEs that support solar maintain an active handshake even when not charging they just advise the car that it's basically awaiting an active...

    Solar panel charger?

For the HV battery the minimum battery power input is 1.3kW, so you'd need a minimum of four 2m*1.2m 370w panels plus a 2kW inverter to convert the DC to AC for the evcharger, and this is assuming 100% perfect conditions and would still take almost 2days for most EVs to charge.
