Very interesting reply from my MP reference Rapid Charger fund

Drive it back where? Whilst the MSA network is severely lacking, there are now plenty of chargers in the UK. I shudder to think what it was like 3 years ago but now the problem is finding them because the signage is not as bold as petrol stations.

Very interesting reply from my MP reference Rapid Charger fund

Hi Guys. I am afraid you need to do a bit more digging. Ofgem gave permission for the DNOs Ito invest in power supplies to most MSAs in August 2021. It is the DNOs that are dragging their heals. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/sites/default/files/docs/2021/05/dno_green_recovery_scheme_decision.pdf I...

Zap-Map require a subscription for you to see new chargers now. I think there is a 6 week delay which I find irritating. Haven’t enjoyed the site for some time now!

It was these guys that caused a bit of a rumpus over monopoly at MSAs. Now that they have got their act together they seem to be cracking ahead. Being Irish owned they have connections with ESB the Irish electricity company.

    Incentives are they returning

And if you aren’t watching the electricity markets, electricity is now down to 10p a kWh on the day ahead market. With gas prices also down, the futures markets are indicating 3.5p a kWh wholesale, LNG rising in the autumn to 5p or thereabouts. But, Europe finished this winter with 55% of the...

Looks like a business tariff not subject to the cap? Phone them! The Go tariff appears to be 12.5p overnight and around 40p day. But things might have changed.

I think that we have to think much more deeply about how electricity will be used in the future. Tata steel have already been seeking support for electrification of steel production. Their aging blast furnaces will need replacement in a few years time. The Swedes have already trialled ore...

Well the cfds for most of the wind farms currently being built are ~4p a kWh plus inflation from 2012 base year. Add distribution costs and retailers profit will come out at about 15p a kWh. By 2026 the ESO expects to turn off fossil fuel power stations. The current build at the above price...

But in this case there is a regulator charged with managing prices. Our electricity market is dysfunctional because everyone gets the price of the highest bidder to supply. Electricity was also taxed for its carbon output. That has been removed and should be placed on gas. It is in the country’s...

Octopus Energy - Sharing my Prices and thoughts - January 2023 onwards…

I have been following the electricity generation and gas delivery over the last 9 months, longer in terms of electricity. The gas prices which pushed up electricity are now falling. Gas futures have been higher than 450p a Therm (30 kWh to a Therm roughly). Today gas futures are down to 220p and...

And this is the reason why we have not wind generation. But Denmark, Germany and Poland do have it and so this is why interconnectors are important. By Thursday Ireland will have considerable wind but not yet the wind farms, some 15 GW is in the early stage of planning, this exceeds their needs...

The government believes in the freedom of the individual and the market. That was the cause of disarray with Covid lockdown and planning for an epidemic. Trust the people was the mantra. Unfortunately the people are not very bright and were not educated to understand the dangers of the epidemic...

The Grid is busy working out how future demand and generation will work. In essence the Grid of the 1960s-1990s has been turned on its head. Instead of central plants generating power and sending it out to the fringes of GB the fringes are now generating the stuff and sending it back into the...

    April 2023 Electricity Prices

The loss of Russian gas queered the market. Germany was buying the stuff in at low prices, though Poland and Lithuania had managed better deals when they went to imported LNG. The amount of gas flowing into Europe lost because of the war cannot be stressed too highly it really is the base of the...

    April 2023 Electricity Prices

Electricity prices in the UK are dictated by a market in which generators bid to offer power, they all get paid at the highest price. At present the price of gas is the highest cost and so all generators are paid at the premium price needed to pay for gas and run generators. Wind and nuclear can...

Yep the IHDs are random. The only reliable thing is current consumption. The bills are right though in my experience!

I think the budget look of the dealerships is intentional as a means of keeping prices low. The dealer I bought mine from has a big swanky showroom for Hyundai 30 meters away from a fit for purpose site which deals the MG brand. The petrol cars sold but not in the numbers the EVs are selling in...

I sat in the petrol version of the ZS before the EV was with the dealers and concluded it was super value for money. Wanted an EV and after 2 years with it find it a great car. I may go for a new LR which will make a trip to Scotland from the south coast easier, but it wouldn’t be awful with all...
