Never charge to 100% on DC, for one it is likely to affect the long term life of the battery but most importantly no-one should be hogging a rapid to charge to full battery especially as the charge rate falls at the top end. Charge to the percentage you need then move on to allow someone else...
Knew about a lot of the foibles before I bought it but was only aware of some of the others through use. The faults were the major issue though, but too much too bear.
Here is my take on the ZS EV, first model not the facelift. Loss of range in winter is normal in all EVs and don’t go by the MG GOM, it’s less than accurate.
MGZS EV Issues and Niggles
Dealers - Lots of bad ones so it seems from my own experience and those of other on the MG Facebook...
It’s a GOM, it isn’t that accurate, particularly in the MG. You can’t work out battery degradation from it as there are so many factors that influence the read out. We have a 3 year old i3 that is still achieving the same amount of range as when it was new.
I’ve been driving electric for 3 years and on my third, you don’t need to know anything about battery health or have any special skills. Just plug the car in when you aren’t using it and just drive it. All the information you need is on the display in front of you.
We also have a BMW i3 and the regen works even when fully charged although not quite as strong immediately. After that initial period the regenerative braking is probably about 3 x stronger in the i3 compared to the ZS. The car comes to a complete halt even downhill and it is possible to drive...
Unfortunately it’s the worst steering I have EVER experienced in a car and I have driven hundreds of cars. May just have been mine but it was awful, always felt like it was going to break.
My daughter stays in Cheltenham and all of the 3 counties is atrocious for charging points. I stay in Lanarkshire and have around 40 rapids and over 100 destination points within a 10 mile radius
I have never had an issue with folding mirrors on any car including the MG ZS. It was very cold here last winter on occasions, the charge flap froze shut several times, but the mirrors were fine.
