The bottom line is no different when comparing EV to ICE. If you have to public charge all the time there’s hardly any difference with current public charging prices. If you can mostly charge at home on a cheap rate then there is a big saving over ICE.
Thanks - you said ‘when I stop the ICE continues to run 1100 Rpm and the EV motor at 1600 Rpm and with in 3 minutes had put 2% in to the battery’ My question was why is the ev motor spinning at 1600 rpm while the car is stopped? Sorry if I’ve missed something or I’m being a bit thick 🤪
It’s interesting that you have a hybrid and get an EV courtesy car - some who have EV’s have been supplied ice cars to use while their car is repaired. 🧐
I think it’s more about making sure that you’re buying a car that’s fit for what your main uses are. If you really want the low down power a diesel gives for towing and i’s a priority to tow a lot then stick with diesel. Getting a petrol PHEV and looking to remap it to change the power...
I think that it’s up to the dealership. I suggested that i really needed the car for a few days to make a decision and got a 2 day Test from my local dealer. I don’t think it’s too hard to get if you‘re seriously considering a purchase.
I’ve been following the HS and it looks a great car - vary fast too!
The car heating issue seems to hit right at the heart of how you use a hybrid. If for any short journey where you need to have the heater on, the ICE needs to be running and warm up, surely that means in winter with short...
The ZS is the same. Speed sign recognition thinks National speed limit is 60mph regardless of the road you are on - it doesn’t have the sophistication to link to gps and satnav to determine the type of road. I’ve learnt to ignor the national speed limit sign flashing when on a 70mph road.
Wouldn’t it just be better to be able to use the car in pure electric at any speed should you choose? Why would you set a mandatory speed limit for the ICE to kick in? Isn’t the governing factor if you have enough battery? Or am I missing the point somehwere? 🤪
Just a thought - I know that you can set how much the battery is charged by the engine (I think that there are 3 settings) - do you think that this might affect when the engine kicks in?
I have the ZS so I’m not qualified to answer most of your queries - but I’ll be interested to see owners responses.
I will say though that if you’re going to ramp up some high mileages and do some long trips you are probably going to be better to stick with an economic diesel. This opinion is...
