Charge level setting on a standard range ZSEV

I believe when they say this battery is rated for 2000 cycles, they mean 2000 100%-0%-100% cycles, or equivalent. For example, I'd class two discharges from 80% to 30% as one cycle for the purposes of cycle life. Recharging each time, of course, is included. Whether the car records cycles like...

I don't think it has the time to prevent a surge due to lightning. My personal view: avoid charging during an electrical storm if possible; if not possible, don't sweat it.

ZS EV Reverse Engineering CAN and OBD Spreadsheets

I don't think it's filtering. It's a long time since I did any of this stuff, and it was only for firmware versions. I think you should get a response from a pid 8 higher than your request. So the above are possibly just junk or unrelated. Is it possible that you are sending at the wrong CAN...

    Extending Slow charger lead

This is by design. The people designing the cable standards decided that allowing chaining like this should not be allowed. There is actually a good reason for this. Each type 2 cable has a resistor at the end that tells the vehicle what maximum current it can safely handle. You could plug a...

2023 ZS not charging on any CCS chargers

No, but at a wild guess one of the rapid charge contactors, or a relay, or wiring. It could even be firmware, though that seems unlikely.

    Updated model coming soon?

Huh? Surely that's a new HS or EHS. They look a bit similar to the ZS.

2023 ZS not charging on any CCS chargers

It sounds like you may have a problem with the rapid charging circuit. Fortunately there's not too much to go wrong since 99% of the work is done in the external charger. Unfortunately, clueless dealers might needlessly replace the CCS2 socket and harness at great expense.

Leaving car at the Airport Holiday

There needs to be some juice in the 12V to begin the charging process. Before you can do anything with the big battery, you need to close the contactors inside it, and for that you need a little energy from the 12V battery. A lot of computers wake up at this point, so they need some 12V energy...

V2L cable not working on MG ZS EV 2022 Trophy Connect - 2 tried. one is known to work on MG4 EV

You'd think that, certainly. But it seems that there is more to it, perhaps there is some sort of firmware incompatibility, who knows. It may just be that the label on the 11473414 EVCCs is misleading (hopefully unintentionally) when it gives an AC discharge rating. The DC rating for the...

V2L cable not working on MG ZS EV 2022 Trophy Connect - 2 tried. one is known to work on MG4 EV

Huh. Does that mean that some people have had their on-board charger updated the expensive way (by replacing the entire EVCC / on-board charger)? Or am I misunderstanding the numbers? [ Edit: I was! Sigh.] Or maybe only certain third party V2L adapters, and not the official MG ones, work with...

    MG ZS EV Rubbish

All those trouble codes are likely false positives from the 12V battery issues. Get them cleared, or clear them yourself with an OBD2 app, and see which if any return. The 12V battery can cause issues to be reported that are truly scary. This is the case with other EVs as well, at least the...

What OBD2 scanner for Mk1 ZS EV?

This post has the one I used. It seems to be pretty common, though there may be clones, and the one I'm using successfully might be a clone. Post in thread 'Project OBD2 - Mobile App v1.2.1 and later' Project OBD2 - Mobile App v1.2.1 and later I suggest either the eZS app (Android only), or...

    ZS EV 2024 facelift?

Isn't @markw's ZS the facelift (mark 2) model, with the newer headlights and the charge port not behind the MG logo? Or are there currently 3 versions of the ZS in the UK? Markw, is there a sticker with recommended tyre pressures and a manufacturing date in the driver's doorwell?

It is if you can get 7.5p per kWh. Those penny-ha'pennies add up you know :) Halfpenny (Wikipedia) I believe that it's a fixed period of time per day. Whereas the intelligent version typically has other periods outside these fixed ones when the tariff is also cheaper. Obviously, that's when...
