Dead 12V battery - any help and advice please?

The important figure is the voltage before the DC-DC kicks in. Any almost dead battery can be pulled up to 14 V rapidly; a high capacity battery with low internal resistance would take more time to get to 14 V (absorbing more amp·seconds of charge before it's at a high terminal voltage). So...

Dead 12V battery - any help and advice please?

That will ruin a lead acid battery. It's possible that it will recover enough to be usable, but it may have limited capacity.

SOC different between car and OBDII scanner report

Yes. All the data on cell behaviour is based on using all of the battery, including the buffers. All that means is that the BMS maintains two SoC values, one to calculate what's really going on, and one to display to the driver. No diagnostic information is really missing. I can't recall, but...

    OBD2 MG5 PFL LR

Or the developer added another profile in font, and uses an index (0, 1, ...) into the table of profiles, effectively changing the profile that you were using. Not likely, but possible.

SOC different between car and OBDII scanner report

This is common; the Battery Management Unit usually maintains two SoC values, the "real" one and the "display" one. The display one has 0-100% as the usable range (excluding buffers). The "real" one is needed for important calculations, including State of Health (SoH).

Onboard charger issue, coded replacement part

I believe that you are the first to be in this situation. VIN locking is the bane of the DIY repairer. Generally, you need a special diagnostic tool that the manufacturer keeps unavailable to all but the dealers. For SAIC vehicles, I don't even know the name of the required tool, and haven't...

    Zappi charged delayed

It may be an intermittent fault. Perhaps dependent on temperature, or it might be susceptible to mechanical knocks. But it might be a firmware issue where a bug is overwriting memory that it should not, and the effects might depend on what value is written, which might depend on many things...

    Auto hold has stopped working

    Did you mean your MG5?

    What OBD apps?

It's sometimes odd on a ZS too. Some of the firmware version characters are non printable, like an FF byte that shows as something like a ÿ (y with two dots on top). Others are very long and that messes up the formatting in portrait mode. Finally, the firmware version number reporting process...

You seem to have posted an abbreviated URL, which doesn't work.

MG 5 - Car "dies" in traffic queue with manual parking brake applied

Plus, auto-hold will be applying the hydraulic brakes, turning on the brake lights. For a while I wondered at people in front of me using their foot brakes so much, why not use the parking brake and give your foot a rest. Then I realised that they probably have the equivalent of auto-hold as...

MG 5 - Car "dies" in traffic queue with manual parking brake applied

On my Mark 1 ZS EV, auto hold seems to apply the foot brake, not the parking brake. Releasing the foot brake seems to be quicker and smoother than releasing the parking brake. The parking brake takes longer because there is a motor with a reduction gearbox, you can hear it whirring for about a...

Battery temperature is one I'd like to see on the voltages and currents page. Are you listening MG? Oh wait... 😦

    Rapid speeds FL

That's a sweeping statement. In some cases, it's the charger, as you have found. But public DC rapid charging is different to local shopping centre AC charging. Another factor is the mismatch between the typical EV battery voltage and the maximum voltage of a DC charger. 50 kW 500 V max...

    Rapid speeds FL

Indeed. The thinking is presumably that rapid charging is for convenience while doing occasional long travels, so people might grumble a little but pay. But there is a next tranche of EV users who can't charge at home. They possibly park on the street. It's going to be (or will continue to be)...

MG5 EV (Facelift) Module Software Versions

I have one with a name like that, but unfortunately these seem to be frequently cloned. I don't even know for sure that mine is genuine; fortunately, it works well enough. As others have noted, the eZS app is somewhat glitchy, but maybe im my case that's because I didn't spend enough money to...

    Tesla Supercharger Issue MG5 LR

They might very well know more than the dealers, but as far as I know, only MG can perform firmware updates. It's not like you do a Google search and download a firmware that seems right. There are interdependencies (some that even SAIC aren't always aware of, sadly), so SAIC insist that only...

MG5 EV (Facelift) Module Software Versions

It's great that people are posting their eZS firmware versions. To save a lot of chasing around, can you please add a comment as to your Tesla charging status: can or can't. Also if your car isn't a UK model, please add something like "German model" as this may affect e.g. the VCU firmware...

MG5 EV (Facelift) Module Software Versions

What version? Did you just download it from the Google PlayStore? It seems to me that this is the best chance we have. Edit: Of course, you have to connect to your Bluetooth OBD-II dongle that is plugged into your car, and the car has to be at least On, if not Ready. It's often a hassle...
