EVV (electric vehicle virgin) looking for tips.

My tip. Download the ZapMap and/or Electric Juice apps so you can plan exactly where you can get a charge for any journey you make. And remember that during the winter, not just with reduced capacity of the battery due to the temperature, but that the use of wipers, lights and heater all draw...

I love any reply that starts "Back in the 70s"

My Miles/Kwh is not looking great!

Yep, good point @biffo - KERS won't work if you're at 100% because it's got no capacity for any more input!

    Scottish Highland Range Anxiety!

@Jonhklee Oh dear, you haven't seen my post of August last year when I expressed exactly the same pain as you are describing!! I was doing the NC500 and at that time there not only was a problem at the Torridon/Shieldaig area, but also at the Durness/Tongue area and then again at Helmsdale.

    High daily mileage

@Bazzhorn I'm no expert - as previous replies to various threads will testify. :D I'm using my car almost every day but not for as much as 130 miles journey each day. What I do is, if I know that I'm going to use the car the next day for at least 20 miles, I fully charge overnight, and get...

Who has done the most miles?

@weedavemac I'll take my exclusion from making comments about my 14,000+ miles in 15 months in the MG5 gang gracefully, but hang on - do I see that you are driving "not an MG"!!!!! Just sayin' !!!! 😂

I wish I could mention my 14,000+ miles in 15 months - but it's in a ZS and I'm not in your gang!!

How can one set default values for Mode and KERS?

    Ooops -

How can one set default values for Mode and KERS?

Effective - in that it operates at a reduced rate and pushes out less air. Efficient - it offers more mileage e.g 10% more range, but is less efficient at clearing the windows etc. Top Tip I saw ages ago on a thread - set air intake to outside feed and open the sunroof on tilt and that slight...

How can one set default values for Mode and KERS?

@Pricey - the age old question !! It appears many leave their cars in KERS 3. I find I like to switch to KERS 1 if I'm driving 20 miles+ on some open road. Many also leave their cars in Normal mode. I tend to set mine in Eco, to help alleviate Range Anxiety. But as other have pointed out, the...

UPDATE (Are the MG5 headlights bright enough? Has anyone upgraded them?)

Is there a power saving element as the LEDs use less battery?? Certainly, in a long dark night journey, the headlights munch up range.

    Best Trip to date...

I've been TOOOO close for comfort 3 times now!! All unfortunate and not wholly my fault. The most recent was at Dalwhinnie about 3 weeks ago on a cold, windy and wet night. I left Dunkeld after an 80% charge showing 134 miles, knowing that I'd make Kingussie (56 miles) but only just made...
