Normally they need a min amount of power from the PV, if it falls below that it may decide to use grid power as it thinks you want the car charged regardless so will use any power source, check your chargers instruction book.

Then the load limit will be very small, I wonder if they are waiting for the new updated model so are not interested in doing anything about the current model, they do seem to be upgrading their models very fast to keep pace with the competition.

As far as I’m aware the roof bars are functional but have never been tested for load limit so can’t be used, why it did not go through that test I don’t understand, I can only imagine it was an oversight as they released it very quickly.

I looked at a lot of them and chose the Zappi, my advantage of being in Scotland is you get the 350 UK government grant then the 300 Scottish grant, which meant I paid around 400 on a basic install, which included the Zappi, Hub and Harvi and if you have solar panels it can handle them also.
