    With an off peak tariff the battery makes sense. Our 3kwp PV system makes 2600kwh/year of which 1000 was exported, domestic use is 3800kwh/year. In winter there is virtually zero solar power, charging the battery off peak makes 90% of our usage off peak. Off peak with Octopus Go price matches...

    Solar panels or stick to overnite cheap rate

    Consider Octopus Go with battery storage to cover your daily domestic use so you pay nearly all usage at the cheap 7.5p/kwh. The standing rate goes to 49p/day which makes a serious impact on the time needed for the battery to pay for itself. Use Excel to see how it works out for you.
