A low SOC should be avoided, I keep mine in the 30-70% range most of the time.
100% is needed for long trips sometimes and low SOC returns reasonable occasionally. Getting home with <5% is good management on occasions!
The recommendation from ALL battery manufacturers and MG is to keep your battery between 20-80% most of the time, no camps, views or opinions just from the people who should know!
Not doing so has 2 outcomes: -
1 - more electricity required to charge at high / low percentages.
2 - marginally...
I ordered my MG5 on 10th September, it was on a ship within a few weeks and arrived in the UK on 3rd November as part of an armada or 3 ship loads of MGs!
What seems to have happened is that sales have picked up so fast that all slack in the system has gone, cars at dealers vanished in...
I have only removed rapid chargers that say charge complete. Using the emergency stop to unplug is wrong, however, you shouldn't really leave a car on rapid very long anyway, certainly not up to 100%.
In the 2 weeks after the FullyCharged Show MG sold record numbers of cars. My dealer said they were booking test drives in 6 weeks away and had queues outside of people wanting to order MGs without a test drive. I had to order by email to get one or wait 6 weeks for an appointment!
On a slow charger where a car is left parked - no, but on a rapid, I have many times. You should never leave a car on a rapid ideally except for a short period less than it takes to reach 80% its just wrong. Maybe OK if there's lots of rapids free but certainly not on a single rapid.
Yes each...
The Grand Orion is on its way from Greece to Barcelona and Bosporus Highway is in Turkey, 1st stop since Shanghai.
I'm told that my MG5 is probably on one, but the new ZS maybe a bit too early?
I ordered mine on 9th September and was told by early December.
Yesterday they updated me that it's on a ship and will be collected from the docks by 20th November, arriving there by around 15th.
This will be my 3rd EV and 3rd new car. All of my ICEs were elderly 2nd hand cars lasting 10 to 20...
I've just been told my MG5 is on the ship and is due to dock on November 15th.
Any idea which ship this is? I am following the Grand Orion, but will that be the one?
If you had the heater, lights, wipers on with rain that kind of loss is easy to achieve.
On longer trips I turn the heating down (stops you getting sleepy) and drive a bit slower
I only use % remaining not the GOM and do the basis maths. You can also do a spreadsheet dividing the power into 1%...
