Leaving car at the Airport Holiday

Left ours (MG5SR Pre facelift) for 7 weeks over Christmas 2022 at 80%. All fine on return.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Well, it certainly happened on an MG5, as writ in these hallowed threads: https://www.mgevs.com/threads/rear-flexible-brake-pipes.3352

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

If the vehicle is still in Drive (or reverse) it'll still try to creep even with no foot on the accelerator, in the same way as almost all automatics. It'll be interesting to see what the final diagnosis is. I know there have been reports if MG5s (IIRC) having an improperly secured brake hose...

    Balance Charging....AGAIN!!!!

If it reassures you about using the granny charger for significant charging, that's exactly what I do when I visit my son (just under 400 mile round trip). I plug in at his place with whatever is remaining in the battery, which is about 15% or thereabouts. Recharges to 100% in ca. 17 hours on...

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Many years sinceupon I had such an episode in my venerable Renault Espace: total inability to reduce speed or stop by treading on the brake pedal. It turned out to be the one single point of failure in the dial circuit: from memory it was a proportioning valve somewhere under the middle of the...

    MG compatibility with Android Auto

Uppy datey. I got fed up fighting the coil of cable on top of the centre console, despite the cable only being 3ft long. Then in an idle moment I found some 50cm cables certified to 10Gb. At a tenner for 2 delivered, it was inviting, especially as the colour choice meant I could continue the...

    Parking charges at MFG Thirsk

1 They ain't "fines". They're invoices for some kind of contractual arrangement The Driver entered into. 2 Do not even hint at the identity of the driver in any appeal (or request for help online -see later). You appeal as The Keeper or Registered Keeper as appropriate and you explain what The...

    MG compatibility with Android Auto

Most Android Auto issues seem to be related to poor cables. There's a thread or two on the subject somewhere, either in the MG5 forum or general chat. I had all sorts of issues connecting in the first place then occasionally having AA spit out it's dummy and dropping the connection. I researched...

Maybe a white car was a mistake.

Q:What's the last thing to go through a bugs mind when your car hits it? A: It's arse.

    Did a stupid thing !

I'm firmly convinced there should be at least a door sensor on the charging port, a prominent idiot light, preferably accompanied by a loud bong (or an MP3 recording of someone yelling "careful f###wit"), triggered by preparing for motion with the charging door open. H'mmm. Magnet, reed...

What does the symbol 3 on the dash mean?

This KERs thing is a bit like engine braking in a petrol car. Lift your foot off and let the car coast and the motor acts like a generator and feeds a bit of power back into the battery. The higher the KERs is set, the more "engine braking" you get. Just be aware that when the battery is at...

    Octopus energy

I'm in the process of switching from BG ('leccy only, historically the incumbent supplier). Couldn't switch straight away when we moved in as there was an issue with the address not being recognised ( basically, the computer says "Huh?"). Now that's sorted I've transferred to Octopus. That's all...

    Free Parking !! :-)

Mentioned on this site before but worth a repeat. There's an online forum very successfully contesting private and council parking tickets (WITHOUT resorting to Freemen on the Land rubbish). Check out forums.pepipoo.com Top tip: especially with Private parking tickets, do NOT give any hint as...

    goodbye and all the best

800-odd kW of charging pretty definitely means water cooled charging cables!

Heater and Air Con not working new car

Not legal, so your insurance will be invalid and, when the time for MOTs arrives, an MOT fail.

    Nice HVB top up

It's a 2000Wh LiFePO4 battery in a box, with a multiple input charger. I offers a 230Vac output via an inverter rated to 2kW (4.8kW peak - but I dunno how many mS that's good for) and a variety of 12Vdc, 5Vdc and wireless phone charging outputs.

Setting Mode and Kers as a default on startup

I have to agree about wanting the ability to set power on defaults. I'd like my MG5 to start up in Eco mode and KERS 3 (if it'll wear it, though I think KERS 2 might have to do as that covers all states of charge)
